I'm not saying he wasn't elite or an A+ level fighter, it's just that if you are going to be put in the same sentence as SRL or real greats you need a much stronger resume. A lot of Oscar's wins need foot notes at the end of them ( age, judges scoring, etc). And stop saying he beat trinidad, he had the fight won but chose to run the last 4 rounds. All 4 went to trinidad.
Then doesn't that put a footnote on Trinidad's win over DLH? Is Trinidad's resume weak? Whose resume was strong, from that welterweight era?
I thought Him "Running" the last 4 rounds was a terrible desicion. But That is what Most Boxers do once they know they have the fight one. SRL is a big example of getting ahead early & coasting toward the end. I thought "Running" was considered "Ring Generalship"?! at least it is when it comes to Whitaker & Mayweather
Exactly, sure he fought people, but the people who were good, he lost to. And the good people he beat, were already old and out the door. You look at all of his big matches, and he lost. Sure he beat Chavez, but Chavez was like 50 years old.
come on...out of all fighters you cant say oscar didnt fight the best guys repeatedly. the tszyu fight wasnt made because tszyu lost to phillips
Dude he lost to the BEST fighters he faced....BHOP, Tito, Money, SSM (2), and Manny.... When you don't distinguish yourself in BIG fights you'll lose and that's what the **** happened...
Lol... Both Whitaker and Chavez were OLD and fighting above their best weight classes. Quartey had Oscar BEAT. Vargas was coming off of the Trinidad slaughter.
