How many undisputed cruiserweight champions also won a portion of the heavyweight crown? When you factor in he has the misfortune of fighting in the K era, you have to re-calibrate your views on his HW resume.
I think that's a bit misleading: 1) Haye's HW title was essentially meaningless (the lineage has been discussed earlier in the thread) 2) The CW division has had a dearth of talent since its inception 3) Moorer and Jones completely skipped the CW division on route to heavyweight titles 4) Toney won a HW title (although the result was obviously overturned) I often see Haye linked to Holyfield, but there is a world of difference in their achievements. Holyfield was a more accomplished CW in every measure (better quality wins, more titles, more defences), and their heavyweight records aren't even comparable.
Undisputed? Is that how it is in today's boxing world, win 3 of the 4 (god...) major titles? Don't see the IBF belt anywhere on his CV.
atsch He held the WBC and WBA (the only two straps you can truly trace lineage through) in addition to the WBO and The Ring. Knock the revisionism on the head; it does not assist. If you genuinely thought Steve Cunningham was the best CW in the World at the same point Haye held the aforementioned straps, log off and don't come back :dead:hi::deal
Haye's CW resume is alright but suffers due to lack of defences. Had he stuck around and beaten Adamek, Cunningham, Bell, maybe Mormeck again then did what he did at heavyweight whilst avoiding the Audley fiasco then a case (a flimsy case mind) could potentially be made. As it stands he has no chance.
Re-read my post smart ass, look for the part where i said Cunningham was the best. atsch I know which belts he held, but those two don't make one the undiputed champ. Do you know what undisputed even means? Look it up noob.
2 weight world champion undefeated as cruiserwieght champion one of the highest knock out % of the modern era became heavyweight champion after 2 fights dont see why not?
he defended his CW title, what, once? had he defended his titles a few more times against decent names, he'd be CW HOF for sure, a guy like JCG defended his title 10 times before he went up to HW HW? if beating Barrett, Ruiz, Valuev makes you HOF worthy, then Lamon Brewster should be a HOF-er for KO'ing Wlad and Golota
Why isn't this poll public? I want to know which 37 posters were dumb enough to click "yes" so I can make fun of them.
