What is the most stupid thing you've heard a boxing commentator/pundit say?

Sounds true to me. Ref's often influence how a fight goes down. Like Ref Luis Pabon not letting Chisora fight on the inside against Haye.

Although I like him most of the time, during the Ali-Foreman fight,Colonel Bob Sheridan said
"those punches by Foreman aren't doing any damage at all, none."
Foreman who stunned people with glancing blows was not doing damage as he wailed away on Ali's hips? Really stupid.

I'm going to have to go with:

anything said by Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless on Espn First Take.

That show is terrible, but know less about boxing than they do everything else.

    The "bangs" were pretty bad.

One thing that kind of annoyed me was when a particularly crabby Merchant snapped at Steward during DLH-Vargas. Steward was saying Vargas might be more effective if he were just a little quicker, and Merchant couldn't accept the notion: "What do you mean if he was quicker? Then he'd be a different fighter. If he were quicker he wouldn't be Fernando Vargas!" While I get where he was coming from in terms of a fighter's style and identity being a complete package, Steward was just making a quick comment and is certainly in more of a position to ponder a fighter's attributes than Merchant. Larry must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed that day or something.

yeah, but it goes without saying. it's not like there's anybody else in the ring aside from the boxers and the referee.
