Why does Chad Dawson get a pass for fighting shot old fighters time and time again?

There is nothing wrong, and everything right with wanting to fight the best. Dawson did and still does that.

Whoever criticizes a fighter for wanting to fight the best, don't know **** about baaxin.

Obviously not, but was Hopkins the #1 LHW, the lineal champ, the WBC LHW champ, and the cash man at LHW: Yes he was.

Therefore Dawson vs Hopkins (even at age 47) is more than justifiable.

Hold that **** now man....... Hopkins beat Pascal fairly, not one judge had Pascal winning in both fights. Cut the crap.

You know how the Ring LHW lineage works. To be the man, you have to beat the man that beat the man.......

Dawson won the Ring LHW championship legitimately.

Dawson is going into this fight as an underdog. I was first thinking Ward got this, but I think Dawson will give a good account of himself, and will give Ward the toughest fight.

Regardless, fighting Andre Ward is one of the most difficult match ups in boxing today.

Calzaghe felt he had done it all at SMW. Froch, and others thought otherwise.

Then he moves up, dismisses RJJ, and ends up fighting him and retiring.

Dawson HAD to fight Bhop to unify the LHW title. Clearly he will face better opponents since Bhop is simply a step for him, not the cumulation of his entire whole career ever. Its just needs meets ends on the way up.

Calzaghe had no such need, his priority was to keep his record at zero losses, which explains his motivation to fight ONLY 40somethings as the highlight and cumulation of his entire career, and his motivation to avoid a young prime man who he could not outgass and thus might beat him. Of course, most people only fight fortysomethings when they are on the way up, like Chad Dawson, Marciano, Lennox Lewis et all do.

So although we know that Calzaghe chickened out of young primes as he became postprime, we DONT know what Dawson will do until he gets to the same age. Lets not prejudge Chad until he turns 36...and when he gets there, if he is facing only fortysomethings then we should duly chastise him.
Until then leave the man alone.

We were discussing "wanting" to fight the best.

Dawson "wanted" to fight the best, he wanted Joe Calzaghe at SMW and at LHW. Calzaghe didnt "want" it.

Regardless, tell me which LHW Dawson should have fought?

Cloud? Clev? Sillakh? Murat? tell me who he should have fought Calzaghe?

What is wrong with fighting Johnson who is a household name?

But fighting him twice was kinda absurd, regardless, Johnson is still a dangerous fighter.

I think Ward is a better fighter than Pascal.

But **** you on about, why are you making it look like Dawson is ducking Pascal? They are both young, both busy and both can get it on in the future.

Abril won 11 out of 12 rounds vs Rios. :patsch

Hopkins vs Pascal I was close, but clear for Hopkins.

In your opinion, who is the #1 LHW in the world?

 Hopkins, Dawson, Pascal, Campillo or Cleverly.

Dawson aint going an inside game, but he was able to stop Hopkins who loves to clinch from getting into the inside. But you right we will see on fight night.

Nothing wrong with making a name fighting old but still game opponents.

Dawson wanted it, but Calzaghe didnt. So where was Dawson to go, Tarver is not a bad fighter to get in the ring with, even at age 40 Tarver still a decent fighter.

    Best available.

The #1 LHW was Calzaghe. But Calzaghe didnt want it.

He also fights Pascal, Diaconu, Hopkins and now Ward, and you want to accuse him on picking on old folks?

Lets compare when Dawson became champ to when Calzaghe became champ. Who fought the tougher opposition.

    Dawson..........VS..........Calzaghe

    Adamek (WBC)..............Eubank (Vacant WBO)
    Ruiz............................Sobot
    Mendoza......................Gimenez
    Johnson.......................Reid
    Tarver.........................Thornberry
    Tarver.........................Starie
    Johnson.......................Shieka
    Pascal.........................Woodhall
    Diaconu.......................Veit
    Hopkins........................McIntyre
    Hopkins........................Brewer
    Ward...........................Jimenez
   ..............................TOCKER PUDWILL

    -----------------------------------------------------

I think it is clear to see, Chad Dawson has taken the more tougher path than Calzaghe once both became champs.

Even if Dawson does somehow defeat Ward, Cazaghe's victory over Eubank is far more impressive since Eubank had a far better resume than Ward, was far more suited to fighting at the super middleweight limit, and had much more preparation time.

Chris Eubank was past his best, Andre Ward at the moment is in his prime and has proven himself to being the best SMW in the world.

Eubank was hardly in the top 5 when Calzaghe beat him.
If Dawson beats Ward, he would be beating the #1 SMW in the world, and the one of two men who have held The Ring SMW title.

Eubank 2 fights prior and 2 fights after Calzaghe were at Cruiserweight. Andre Ward is far more suited at fighting at SMW than Eubank age 31 was.

Eubank was also preparing to fight Mark Prince at LHW.

Chris Eubank had 2 weeks to prepare for Joe Calzaghe.

Dawson has had far more preparation time.

    EDIT: Further Pwnage
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    - Andre Ward holds the WBA and WBC SMW titles, Chris Eubank never had any SMW titles the time Calzaghe fought him
    - Andre Ward is P4P top 10 ranked by many authorities, Eubank was no where to be seen in the P4P ranks when Calzaghe fought him
    - Andre Ward is undefeated and has won all his fights clearly, Eubank was not undefeated when Calzaghe beat him
    - Andre Ward is coming off his career best win, WBC Champ Carl Froch, Eubank was coming off a win against a 15 fight novice Alcaron exhibition fight.
    - Andre Ward is an Olympic Gold medallist.

It's sad when certain posters' ideas become past the point of parody. I do hope bailey responds to this though and tries to defend my utterly ridiculous post.
