Ridiculous idea. As stupid as having Golf and Tennis in.

The Olympics should only be for sports for which the Olympics is the absolute pinnacle.
The Olympics is the pinnacle of AM boxing. The pinnacle of Pro boxing is the world title.

What is the incentive to stay in the AM's?

there is no pinnacle in the pros. just say ABC....

the olympics have 1 champion every 4 years.

ams kids still fight ams. if you arent good enough to go to national boxoffs every 4 years and fight against the pros, go home, get older, better, or you were just never good enough....

Never good enough? Floyd in 96 when he competed at the Olympics wouldn't have been able to match the top pros of the time. Does that mean he was never good enough?

They are seperate sports. Keep them seperate.
BTW would these fights count towards your pro record?

no, it would count on your am record as its a different format.

your point proves floyd would probably jump at the chance now to win that gold...money or not.

Swingin could u just clarify if i have my head around this or not??

    So under the AIBA

standard Am boxing for anyone of the beginers to the sport.

The World Series Boxing (WSB) to bridge the gap between the Am's and Pro's (designed for Am boxers to fight under a pro style and maintain olympic eligability)

And then pro boxing under the APB.

Any pro's who want to go to the Olympics must stop pro fights under any other promoter and join the APB for the season before the games.

so the WSB becomes obsolete because there is no need to bridge the gap between Am's and pro's becuase you will be able to jump back and forth between amatuer and pro's thanks to the APB to suit your liking?

Professional sports should stay right away from the Olympics, it's ******ed things like tennis and basketball have been allowed in.

u telling me to think before i write yet you just wrote this up AFTER i told you that age restrictions will prevent many pros from even entering this.. floyd is 35, he is over the cut off limit for the age restrictions imposed by amateur boxing at the olympics. Do your homework and stop barking at crap :good

    thats right.

the boxing format they are considering is pretty murky though. at least they are trying. the olympics should be about the best, not money. money or amatureism is gone from the modern games. boxing needs to find a way to get its best in there and help raise the profile of the sport. they could undo a lot of the dameage the alphabetboyshave done to the sport.

1 champ in each division every 4 years. that sounds sensible to me.
