Has Carl Froch surpassed Ricky Hatton....

If you're gonna quote my post at least read it. I said I think Froch has surpassed Hatton. But to say Froch is miles ahead of Hatton is inaccurate. And I'm not a City fan. I hate City. Nor am I fat, although I admit that I am frequently pissed up.

 

Voted for Froch. Olis "timeline"/ opinion of what happened at 140 around 2005/ 2006 is way off though and just slating the fighters Hatton did fight while bigging up the fighters he did'n't purely based on whether Hatton fought them or not and doesn't really stand up the scruntiny TBH.

And lets be honest if Hatton didn't face (say) Urango he'd be in the "feared" list with Holt and Torres while those 2 would move to the "**** list" with Maussa if Hatton had of beat them.

I didn't even like the guy when he was active, but I'm still objective enough to recognise he was a good world-class fighter. That first sentence should be appended to every post you make - it would provide fair warning to anyone who sees you on here.

 

Froch has faced lesser punchers than Hatton? No way!

 

Hatton fought a fair few bangers, more than you'd expect for someone who was an Allegedly fighter for so long.

He also faced a few decent domestic level hitters, back in the day when there were some.

Froch never really had that upbringing.

If any attribute of his was overrated, it's his chin. Sure, he's a very hard man, but he's not all that superior to Hatton chin-wise in all honesty.

 

I voted for Froch too. Oli's just arguing to support an opinion, rather than coming to an opinion after looking at the arguments.

 

Ok fair enough, Hatton may have faced harder punchers on the come up, and as I think about it Froch hasnt fought anyone with p4p power like Pacquiao, but he has fought bluedgeoning punchers like Pascal and Abraham, and Taylor and Bute are no sissys power department wise. Frochs chin though is unquestionable, far more resistant than is Hattons.

 

Froch has the better chin IMO. But Pascal/Taylor are not particularly big punchers at World Level whereas Abraham hardly even tested Carl's chin. He's not fought the equivalent of someone like Matthysse & his power at world level

 

It's close, but I voted for Froch. Both of them have some very good wins, and both of them fell short when going up against the very best in or around their weight division. So in terms of achievements, perhaps Froch edges it, just.

Hatton is under-rated on this forum though. His loss against Floyd was no worse than Froch's against Ward. Yeah he got knocked out, but would you respect him more if he'd just gone into his shell and tried to survive the 12 rounds? He was outclassed anyway. As was Froch against Ward.

Okay the loss against Pac was brutal, but you can't rubbish the guy because of that.

 

This debate will just rumble on, Froch has the better chin IMO. I've seen Hatton hurt a few times and obviously stopped, ok against the best around but Froch is like a man of steel. He just sucks it up and wages more war..

When he has been floored or hurt i call it more being buzzed then hurt, he gets shook up a little but recovers so quickly but that's cos he's a fitness fanatic and the fitter you are the quicker you recover.

Think we can all agree they were top guys in there divisions? and top british fighters in the modern era.

Hatton did not achieve as much legacy wise as froch has thus far, and if people stating that as their opinion offends you then I suggest you go over to the Hatton TV boards

i think hatton could have beaten guys like harris, corley, urkal.
