Oli should die, agree with Gaz, DF, SPB.... and Flea (on most posts)

  2. It was the WBU years that handicap Hattons legacy.

Frank didn't help either, smart fighters know when to leave Frank, Ricky stayed too long imo

The WBU "Reign of Terror" went on too long (about 12 months) but and did contain some iffy opponents but if you forget the BS title and take them as buliding fights towards the "proper" world title then I'm not sure, aforementioned iffy opponents aside, that it affected Hattons legacy that much.

His record AFTER the WBU years is decent enough, add to that the lower-tier decent fighters he met before that and then judge his career. Don't dismiss the building fights of 2003-2005 just because they had a shitty title attached, those fights would have happened belt or no belt as part of a prospect moving into true world class, both the good ones and the bad ones. I don't see it as much of a legacy issue in the greater scheme of things given what he went on to do.

On the subject of timing, Hatton got the Zoo fight out of Frankie and moved on. Not sure at which point he could have moved on earlier and got to fight inbetween Zoo being injured, having other fights lined up or Hatton just plain not being ready to fight Zoo.

Like I say theres probably a wasted 12 months in there in total but it helped bring on the Zoo fight for Hatton so its hard to say at which point he should have gotten away from Frankie. He probably should just have insisted on some of the deadwood opponents being of a better calibre and kept pestering Frankie for the Zoo fight.

i was surprised tszyu took the hatton fight.

thought he'd go to HBO and try for the floyd fight.

just shows floyd weren't the big money fight at the time.

Floyd wasn't interested in the fight, he felt he could make more at welter.

Well Ward, yes, certainly not Kessler though.

Hatton had overrated power, he was no big ko puncher.

    What?!?

Pac' and Floyd are harder/better punchers than Kessler/Ward. That is my point.

Hatton and Froch's power is on the same level IMO. The Bute fight must still be fresh in the memory. Froch more heavy handed, Ricky with the better form. Hatton's stoppage of Castillo and K.O of Maussa are as brutal as anything Frochy has.

I'd say Pacqiuao is clearly the harder puncher than Kessler.

at over 140 i'm not sure.

Other than caving Ricky's marshmallow in, he's needed round after round of flush shots to finish guys off,

Kesslers KO of Green was about as impressive as Pac's KO of Hatton

Pac is 2-5 ko's after stepping up to one 140, one was Cracking Ricky's Egg, the other was a 12th round mercy stoppage of a weight drained cotto Oh and also the corpse of oscar quitting.

at 135 or below i'd agree though

Yeah, but Green? He's shocking really ain't he. Beyer is the best stoppage I can think of for Kessler, who is a very solid puncher don't get me wrong.

green is pretty ****ing awful tbf

The Beyer stoppage was nice, also i likes the sartison one, which showed Kessler carries his power the whole 12 rounds.

I still would not say Pac at 140+ is any more of a puncher than Kessler at 168, that's not a knock though, just saying they both are decent bangers at those weights

I actually enjoy these threads but dont enjoy the way some only believe what they say to be correct and cant comprehend why someone else thinks differently.

Its great that people see things differently and from different perspectives, we arent all experts in the sport.

If we all thought the same it would be a very boring place.

    :good

Oh and Frochs record is still better! :tong
