N'Dou was 33-1 30KOs. Another solid victory for Floyd at that time.

I could care less how all over the forum it was, them saying one sentence about the fight does very little to me since Shane was at 147 for the bulk of 1999 and Floyd didn't even MOVE to 135 until when, 2002?

I'm not blaming Mayweather for the failed fight in 2006. But I'm still wondering why wouldn't Mayweather just follow them to 147 and fight side by side with them and force the fight by fighting top contenders?

Too many top guys he missed out on by fighting MAINLY for money. You nitpick at Hopkins for not rematching Jones. while Floyd missed Cassamayor, Freitas, Johnston, Prime Cotto, Prime Mosley, Margarito, Williams, and the biggest fight he could have made - Manny Pacquiao.

Blame whomever you like for the fights not happening. The fact that they didn't, hurt his standing. Robinson ducked Burley outright but that doesn't mean Burley gets a mythical win over him.

Being an ATG and having the resume is about having the biggest W's nothing more. But this is way closer than you think, if he'd beat Dawson i would say Hopkins by a mile.

But i have to go with Hopkins. Mayweather has the same problem over and over again, he has no ATG wins.

I nitpick Bernard Hopkins for not fighting Calzaghe eithet. Or James Toney. Or the numerous fighters at 175 and 168, divisions that were stackef then.

Call it for what it is. Mayweather left and chased the bigger names. Mayweathers list of opponents at 130 were miles away better then Hopkins list at 160.

Hopkins was content to be a big fish in a little pond. Roy was and will always be his daddy.

Mayweathers list of opponents and weight jumping is far better then Hopkins whos claim to fame is beating a bunch of B level guys above 40.

Ndou would fit nicely in Hopkins list of middleweight opponents.

Exactly. Mayweather chased nothing but names only fighting for money fights. Hopkins is an ATG in one of boxing's premiere divisions, and Floyd is not except 130 which is a ******* division no one really cares about.

Floyd defied the odds ONCE, Hopkins numerous times. The only other time Floyd had the chance to defy odds was last year, and he priced himself out of that fight.

Hopkins is an ATG at middleweight same reason Calzaghe was at Supermiddleweight. Longevity fighting scrubs.

Hopkins best wins at middleweight says it all. Oscar de la Hoya who was schooled and abused by Sturm. And Tito whos best win was over Joppy and got schooled by Winky Wright.

Compare that to Mayweather victories over Hernandez and Corrales. Come on.

Hopkins only had a middleweight reign because roy jones left.

Ill only ask you this one more time, why didnt Hopkins fight Roy, Calzaghe, Toney, Nunn, Benn, Eubanks, McCallum, ect?

What ATGs did Hopkins beat? Tarver lol!

Hopkins only defied the odds because he gives a terrible performance (jermaine taylor) then a great performance (Tarver), horrible performance (Calzaghe) great performance (Pavlik), horrible ( jones), great (pascal).

Mayweather always has great performances. Floyds level of expectation is greater. His fights more entertaining. His skill more evident. His opponents more known.

Floyd is what Roy jones jr is to Hopkins. True greatness vs longevity and low expectations.

How on Earth is Mayweather losing this poll.

Hopkins got beaten by Taylor twice - why do people always overlook this when judging his resume?

No way that Mayweather would drop 2 decisions to a fighter on Taylor's level.

Don't understand why people give so much value to "defying the odds". It's not Mayweather's fault that he's been so good that he's pretty much been the favourite in all of his fights.

None of this is strictly relevant to resume though. You're making a purely resume decision based on things other than resume. You're speaking about an overall p4p career greatness comparison there. When you're talking resume, only the results, performances and opponents matter. :good

Hopkins has built his legend on fighting smaller guys above their best weight. When he fights a true A level talent his own size, he loses.
