Floyd is more skilled but Duran was stronger and tougher. Duran would eat Floyd`s punches and ko him.
How can Floyd be in the lead when he competed against lesser fighters with more physical advantages? How can that gap in demonstration of skill work in Floyd's favor? Duran bringing Hagler to a close points decision alone at that age and weight required more sheer craft than most, if not all, of Floyd's best wins.
The way I truly would measure skill is against who your willing to test it against. Then after all is said and done you'll get your answer. Truth is Floyd has looked unbeatable against very beatable opponents. Duran, on the other hand, looked beatable against very unbeatable looking opponents that I need not mention. Not hatin, just the truth.
Duran has the greater overall skillset, probably the most natural fighter there has ever been, floyd looks kinda robotic compared to Duran in full flow. Even if floyd has an edge in defense, its nowhere near as clear as the edge Roberto has in offence or more importantly the ability Duran has to switch effortlessly between offence & defense. Duran is the more skilled fighter, the much greater fighter career wise & would tear floyd apart in a fight both at their best from 135-147. Duran is the correct answer here people, wake up please.
Because he's more skilled that's why. Duran is arguably one of the most overrated fighters in boxing people love his machismo much like Erik Morales and tend to overrate him also the fact that he's the greatest Latino fighter of all time so he gets extra points for that. So he gets overrated to that degree. For example when you look at ATG list people often rank Duran over SRL who is the better fighter which is ridiculous. They play up his success but overlook his flaws and loses and have an excuse for every loss, he didn't train or he didn't care. Really?? He got his socks boxed off by Benitez got KFTO by Hearns lost to Hagler and quit against SRL in one of the biggest fights of his career and is always remembered for No Mas. That's the type of bias that I'm talking about and is treated like some kind of boxing God who could do no wrong.
Once you`ve been into boxing for more than 2-3 years & you learn the sport... you will regret saying shite like that.
