Floyd or Duran - Most skilled?

Defense - Mayweather. *Durans offense was the basis of his defense, Mayweather's *defense is the basis of his offense. *Mayweather is more defensively complete.

Offense- *Duran. *See defense.

Speed - Mayweather. *Quicker hands and feet.

Counter Punching - Mayweather. *Duran was actually a good counterpuncher but he was very short on patients, and liked to lead.

Ring Generalship - Even. *Duran controlled opponents with Pressure Mayweather does it with patients and counterpunching.

Jab - Mayweather. *Quicker and straighter.

Body Punching. - Duran. Mayweather is a good body puncher but I've never seen him stop an opponent with it. *I've seen Duran absolutely destroy opponents to the body.

Power(not really a skill) - Duran.

I'm sure I've left out plenty of tangibles, and I'm sure I've left out skillsets, but the question was who had(have) more skill, not who would win.

 

Fair ratings. Though it's odd to have the jab as a skillset by itself? Though infighting, combination punching, pressure-fighting, could be added as well.

 

No way Floyd has the better jab......watch Duran vs Palomino just as a single example.....
Floyd never showed such a good jab in his career.....

Duran is also the better counter-puncher IMO, he was fantastic countering at the close distance....

I agree there's plenty of skillsets that I know I probably left out, because there are tangibles and intangibles that some might consider skill. But to use the skillsets that you added

Infighting - Duran. Although that is an area that Mayweather does not get much credit for. He's a very good infighter but relies more on tying his opponents up and arm wrestling.

Pressure fighting - Duran. That's the basis of his style.

Combination Punching - Mayweather. People equate the new Mayweather with what he has always been as a fighter but at 130-135 he was much more of a combination puncher and a lot more willing to mix it up. Duran was a good combination puncher as well, I just think Mayweather is a little faster and accurate. Just my opinion.

 

I'll disagree with you on combination punching since I think Duran displayed it more frequently against higher level competition, but your answers are coming from an honest place so I have no problem with your picks.

 

More skilled: Floyd
Bigger balls: Duran
