Two lightweight Titlists who's careers were cut short before they had a chance to fight the divisions best.

Nazarov suffered an eye injury before he could meet anyone of the very highest quality and Valero looked to be growing into lightweight but probably would've been taken out of the division for bigger fights when he lost it and snuffed it.

Valero seemed to find his footing at 135 and showed more technical prowess but most will remember him as a less skilled Bazooka Limon @ super feather. Nazarov had an extensive amateur background. Both had power. Valero quicker hands.

    12 rounds. Who takes it?

Nazarov's brutally effiicient mechanical Soviet offensive ability would decide it.

Predictable, and yet wholly satisfactory response. Thanks :good

Who do you think Nazarov could've went on to fight without getting shot and then losing an eye? Who was around and who was coming up in the near future?

Nazarov was a better combination puncher......much better skill IMHO.
As far as pure power goes, perhaps Valero was the better puncher though......

But who d'ya think would win Vic? Valero was a poor finisher IMO, although I guess he didn't let up, would Nazarov be able to catch him as he's steaming forward?

Nazarov, I think he would put the punches together well, throw them with better technique and finish the fight in the mid rounds......

Admittedly have seen more of Valero than Nazarov. Have seen 3 fights; Gamache and two Koreans. Haven't seen his lost to the French fighter.

Got to go with the crowd and say Nazarov, and maybe pretty easily as well.

    Brains over psychopathic drive...

Nazarov too cold, too cool, too efficient for the wild Valero.

Would beat Valero to the punch everytime with his straighter punches.

He either wins by late stoppage or by wide dec reconfiguring Valero's face on the way.

Would have loved to have seen him against Mosley at 135.

That would be a more even fight.

I had a thing for valero (no homo) he just seemed like he was headed for the top. his win over demarco looks good in retrospect but it's touhg picking him here.

I probably would expect Nazarov to do him.

This thread reminds me of Ramanov, European lightweight champion destined to be world champion only to be abducted by aliens, what the hell happened to him???

Anyway back to the thread 2 very similar southpaws, Valero more raw, but his strength and power I think were better, that and he has the sociopath X factor, so I favour him

Nazarov would bust him up, IMO.

Far more compact, and straight puncher. More defensively responsible as well.

Romanov. Was a quality fighter. Saying that he had a close fight with Graham Earl (loss) and his best win was over Jon Thaxton on cuts. Never saw him after that. Shame, looked pretty classy.
