Yea maybe they were good at that time, maybe im a huge boxing fan, i watch every fight i can even solo boxeo, fights the casual fans would never bother with, i also research certain fighters that i didnt have the pleasure of seeing live, however if i attempted to watch every fight of every fighter who foight a well known fighter past or present i would have no time to do anything else, now the only figher I've heard of on that list and saw a couple fights of is Ray Mancini...

Never said Alexis Arguello was average and I was actually trolling about his resume, similar to how today's fighters get so much disrespect about their resume...but I still don't consider a win over Marcel such a great feat solely because he beat Arguello...

    Gotcha :good

And I'll also add that despite me arguing vehemently for Duran in this thread, I'm a big fan of Mayweather's skills. He's one of my favorite technicians to watch in this era as he's one of the only guys with truly great skills. He's a certified ATG and he'd be a hall of fame caliber fighter in any era.

Even if all this bs was exactly as you paint it... it still shits on floyds career tbh.

93-78, esb knows where it's at.

FLoyd is much more skilled than Duran was.

Mayweather is more skilled. But Duran had enough grunt and animal to make up for any skill deficits.

That answer tells us all you never saw the man fight, cause if you did you'd know you're talking ****. This forum needs a minimum age limit.

Depends on what you mean by skilled. He certainly threw more combinations than Mayweather, he mixed up his punches better. He rolled with punches as good as anyone, and he countered very quickly because he stayed in the pocket a lot. And he feinted better.

No less an expert than Angelo Dundee said he's defense was very under-rated and certainly his offense was better than Mayweather's. Pretty hard to be considered in the top 10 ATG and to beat someone like Leonard without having boxing skills.
