I agree. If I was Magee, it would take the fight against a lesser top 15 opponent and get the belt. Then get a payday after with Dirrell or someone else.

Any news on who Dudey is fighting on the Frampton undercard yet?

Dirrell will school Magee if they fight. Really don't want that fight to happen. He should fight the winner of Stieglitz v Abraham. Or even Groves or DeGale. He has a chance of winning those fights.

Dirrell is a **** too, I don't want to see him beat Magee who I'm a big fan of.

Dirrell beat Froch and Abraham. The guy is a top super middle weight.

Completely agree with pretty much everything here. Although I would note that while I scored Dirrell vs Froch for Dirrell I thought he should have been disqualified for the ridiculous amount of holding he initiated.

He's tremendously skilled, and while Magee has shown himself to be able to put up a competent fight against top guys like Froch and Bute, Dirrell has got sickening speed and power beyond both of those. His nickname of The Matrix really is fitting.

Dirrell is a **** of the cheating type. I didn't like the way the fight with Abraham ended. As Abraham said "He's a good actor, not a boxer"

Patrick Hyland hopes to secure crack at Billy Dib

The incredible boxing journey for undefeated featherweight prospect Patrick "The Punisher" Hyland (27-0, 12 KOs)continues after his recent victory by eight-round unanimous decision (79-70, 79-71, 79-71) overdangerous Dominican Carlos "El Flaco" Fulgencio (19-8-1, 12 KOs)at Sahlen Stadium in Rochester, New York.

"I enjoyed the fight and was sharp," Dublin-native Hyland said about his fight with Fulgencio. "I dropped him at the end of the first and caught him again in the second. I didn't want to punch myself out, so I eased up and boxed the rest of the fight. My previous fight only lasted four rounds and I needed the rounds. He came to beat me and kept coming forward. We went toe-to-toe and he caught me with a few shots. He tested my chin. I'll be back in the gym later this week and want to be fighting again by the beginning of November, hopefully, in a 10 or 12 round fight."

Hyland has been following his dream to become world champion that developed when he was an amateur in Dublin. He and his brothers, middleweight Edward 16-2, 6 KOs) and super bantamweight Paul (21-2, 6 KOs), moved to Essex, England at the beginning of Patrick's pro career. The Hylands didn't get the opportunities there that they expected and 1 ½ years later they were released from their promotional contracts. With their father Patrick, Sr. as head trainer, like he was in the amateurs, the fighting Hyland brothers crossed the Atlantic Ocean to fight a few times in the United States. They went back and forth between Ireland and America until they hooked up with Final Round Promotions/Team Snooki Boxing, which includes television reality star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, for a fight this past January in Atlantic City.

Patrick made a decision to move alone to the U.S., not to cities like New York City or Boston like some of his Irish prizefighting predecessors, but to Marlboro, New York in Hudson Valley. Hyland has been working with two-time world champion Tracy Harris Patterson, son of former world heavyweight champion Floyd Patterson, and Patrick's father works his corner as an assistant coach.

"We tested the US market and I enjoyed it here with higher-caliber fighters," Hyland explained. "I jumped at the offer to come here to fight. Now, I'm used to living in America. I had to get use to driving on the opposite side of the road. I never saw woodchucks or coyotes before, but I've accustomed to living here, and I'm enjoying myself."

The 28-year-old Hyland is the World Boxing Federation ("WBF") featherweight champion. He is rated No. 4 by the North American Boxing Organization ("NABO") and United States Boxing Association (USBA), as well as No. 5 by the North American Boxing Federation (NABF).

With 27 consecutive victories to start his professional career, Hyland already holds that record for a Republic of Ireland fighter (the All-Ireland record of 30 is held by little known Northern Ireland fighter Billy Adamson, 1950-52).

Few active boxers have longer winning streaks (not unbeaten with draws) to start their professional careers than Hyland, including 43-0, Floyd Mayweather, Jr.; 36-0,David Rodriguez; 33-0, Mike Alvarado; 32-0, Vanes Martirosyan, Roman Gonzalez; 31, Denis Boytsov; 30, Ajose Olusegun; 29, Timothy Bradley; 28,Kell Brock, Mickey Garcia.

"Patrick has proven his dedication to winning a world championship by moving without his family halfway around the world," Final Round Promotions/Team Snooki Boxing Vice President Mike Pascale added. "That took a lot of guts. We're committed to doing everything in our power to help position him to reach his dream"

Hyland is proud of Team Ireland's recent performance at the Olympic Games, as he prepares for a regional title fight and, if everything goes according to plan, a world title shot in 2014.

"They were fantastic," Hyland spoke about the Irish Olympic boxers. "I'm so proud of them. Our superstar, Katie Taylor, I know and she's the best in the world.

"I want to keep fighting often because that's where you learn. I listen to my team and fight anybody they put in the ring with me. If I had a choice, I'd like to fight (IBF featherweight champion) Billy Dib (35-1, 21 KOs). He beat me in Australia when we were amateurs, so there's a history between us. He's world champion and I'd like a crack at him."

Dirrell vs. Magee & Gamboa vs. Salgado on November 17th in TMT Promotions card

Boxrec is reporting that super middleweight

Andre Dirrell (20-1, 14 KO’s) will be taking on 37-year-old interim WBA World super middleweight champion Brian Magee (36-4-1, 25 KO’s) on November 17th in a TMT Promotions fight card for the vacant WBA World super middleweight title at a still to be determined venue in the United States.

Along with this mouth-watering fight between Dirrell and Magee, former IBF/WBA

champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16 KO’s) will be challenging IBF super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) for his title. I’m not all that excited about this fight, because it’s a mismatch. I saw Salgado’s fight last Saturday night against challenger Jonathan Victor Barros, and Salgado looked worse than awful in winning a 12 round decision. He’s got no power and not much hand speed to speak of. Gamboa, #5 WBC, #8 IBF, #9 WBO, is going to destroy this guy no problem. I see this fight as more of a tune-up bout for Gamboa, because he hasn’t fought in ages since beating Daniel Ponce De Leon last year in September. Gamboa deserves a nice easy fight against a paper champion. After Gamboa destroys Salgado, I’d like to see Gamboa move up in weight and try his hand against former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner. Now that would be a fight, if Golden Boy Promotions, the promoters for Broner, would allow the fight to be made with Gamboa.
I see Magee as being ranked a tad too high by the World

Association. I don’t agree that this guy should be #1 by the WBA, especially given that he was stopped by Lucian Bute in a 10th round TKO last year in March. Magee has only fought twice since then, beating Jaime Barboza and Rudy Markkussen, but he hasn’t beat anyone that I would consider good enough to deserve a #1 ranking. To me, Magee is more of a bottom feeder type contender. You know, like a 20 to 30 ranked guy rather than someone in the top 5 in the rankings. It’s still a good tune-up, stay busy fight for the talented Dirrell, who hasn’t fought since blowing out Darryl Cunningham in two rounds last December. Dirrell, #4 WBO, #11 WBC, needs a nice easy tune-up fight like Magee to get him ready to fight unification bouts against the likes of IBF champ Carl Froch, WBO champion Robert Stieglitz and WBA/WBC champion Andre Ward.
Dirrell, one of the most talented fighters in boxing, has been sitting on the shelf for the most part since suffering an injury in the Super Six tournament in 2010. However, like a Porche that merely needs a tune-up after sat in the garage for a couple of years, Dirrell is ready to hit the highways and start burning rubber again as he marches forward to show that he’s the best fighter at 168.
I expect Dirrell to toy with the slow as molasses Magee for three or four

before taking him out with some blinding combinations that Magee will never see.

Kessler offered $1million to face Magee for WBA title

    Per Ake Persson

Danish Hall of Fame promoter Mogens Palle has offered Mikkel Kessler (45-2, 34KOs) $1 million USD net plus $50,000 USD in training expenses to fight WBA interim-super middleweight champion Brian Magee (36-4-1, 25KOs) in late October or early November.

At stake will be the WBA regular title left vacant by Karoly Balzsay, who is sidedlined with injuries.

Team Magee have been given permission from the WBA to choose any opponent from the Top 15 in the current ratings. Kessler fought his last fight at light heavyweight but came in just above the super-middleweight limit and should be able to make 168 without any problems.

Will this take place in Belfast :think
