(if yer though he won) Does it get/deserve a lot more credit Now than it did at the time. I would say yes cos of what hopkins has done over the last few years Loads still say that JC never beat anyone great but i dont know. bhop still has a lot left even now
TBH at the time, I thought we was seeing the end of Hopkins when he lost that fight but years on i look and with each year Bernard wins at top level it makes me see how good a win it was.
Chris Eubank was his best win. "Chris Eubank was a better win than anything Froch or any other Supermiddle Weight has done since"..... Chris Eubank was a better fighter than Bernard Hopkins, people go on all the time about Bernard Hopkins 20-21 middleweight defences. Chris Eubank went 20-21 fights unbeaten as a Middleweight & Super-middle weight world champion. And in that period of time, he beat better fighters than Bernard Hopkins did during his middleweight title reign..... Bernard Hopkins is a great fighter and a great win for Joe Calzaghe. But the fact of the matter is, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, James Toney.......all these guys fought and have beaten better fighters than Hopkins did during his prime years. "People are underrating Chris Eubank and Joe Calzaghe's win over Chris Euabnk"......
I thought Joe lost that fight. (I've only ever seen it once though) I recall the highlights package consisted of one strait right hand Clazaghe landed flush. atsch But a wins a win & as Skills says, what Hopkins achieved after makes Clazaghe's victory over him seem so much better,
Carl Thompson was at his peak, and Chris Eubank had two wars with Thompson. In that fight Chris Eubank proved yet again, how tough and good a fighter he was even outside of his best weight class. Even during a loss he got allot of credit, he was tagging and hurting Thompson bad!.....
PK, Calzaghe has said Eubank was his hardest fight It was a close, ugly spoilfest that Joe edged with his workrate, though I havent watched it in ages. It was an important win but not Joe's best or his best performance imo
Man the first Thompson vs Eubank fight was brilliant, i remember Thompson playing possum at times. Pretending to be hurt and lying on ropes and Eubank looking at him and not falling into trap. It was one of the best domestic battles i've ever seen.
yes, the eubank win is very underrated, but it's not a better win than hopkins. calzaghe did say eubank was his hardest fight, but that doesn't mean he was the best he's fought. hopkins has better wins than james toney and eubank has.
Ugly spoilfest..? I can remember people saying it was candidate for fight of the year. I have the fight on video tape..:yikes And it was one of those performances where both the winning and losing fighter both get credit for their performances. It was one of Calzaghes best and most exciting fights. Chris Eubank is the best fighter he has EVER fought and beaten.
What are Hopkins best wins compared to... Nigel Benn, James Tony, Chris Eubank best wins.... Talk to me about his legendary Middle Weight reign why don't you.
i'm not talking just about his middleweight reign. i'm talking about his overall resume. these are the wins that matter... glen johnson antwun echols syd vanderpool keith holmes felix trinidad william joppy howard eastman jermain taylor ( i had him winning one of those fights) antonio tarver kelly pavlik winky wright jean pascal can you now post the wins that matter for toney and eubank.
