    Ali (obvious)
    Louis (obvious)
    Marciano (obvious)
    Dempsey (obvious)
    Foreman (obvious)
    Holmes (20 title defenses)
    Frazier (obvious)
Lewis (smashed Tyson, beat every fighter he faced)
    Holyfield (embarrassed Tyson twice)
    Johnson
Tunney (beat every man he faced, no embarrassing KO losses, didn't quit in a fight, etc)

How old are you btw? There was Heavyweight Boxing before Mike Tyson.

Head to head, at his best, I believe he'd have started favourite over any fighter ever.
He was awesome, and we probably never saw the best of him.

No way would he be the favorite over a prime Ali. None.

Tyson had metal issues and trouble dealing with a jab and taller fighters WITH skill. Ali would have Tyson wanting to swallow his tongue and crying at the Press conference before the fight. It would be a mental midget vs a man. Ali would own him mentally and in the Ring.

    :patsch

I have probably been watching Boxing longer than you have been alive. I will leave it at that. Yes Tyson was an exciting fighter but he isn't top 10 and he was not out of his Prime @ 24 years old either.

People have Marciano top 4 most times, He beat a shot Louis, an end of the road charles and walcott, but say Mike beat nobody because of the Holmes win. Mike would still be top ten without ever fighting Larry IMO.

Not fighting a guy from a two year lay off who is practically 39 doesn't dent much in anybodies resume.
Larry Holmes was 100% shot even if he continued fighting till Butterbean scared him into retirement in 2002 :rofl:rofl

Mikey has a pretty weak resume.

H2H still a monster who can be in any top 10, even top 5.

Also I think it is more fair for Marciano to be compared h2h with cruisers.
    Considering that is his weight.

But I personally think anybody who glorifies his Holmes victory is being very stupid.

Yeah, I think he deserves to be in the top 10. Probably around 8th or so. Both his wins over Holmes and Spinks are underrated due to their destructive nature and he had several other impressive wins, including post-prime.

people only bother with the likes of Dempsey, Tunney etc cause it makes them look like they know their history...these guys would have the **** beaten out of them even in today's HW division. Tyson would have eaten em for breakfast

Dempsey is a cruiser by todays standard.
And Gene Tunny was a light heavyweight.

I don't think they should even be in heavyweight rankings anymore, even if they could beat big guys up.

Edit: Jack Johnson also fought a lot at cruiserweight, though some fights especially his later at heavyweight.
I think he can be compared to cruisers and heavies, though I would prefer cruisers as those heavyweights didn't come until pretty close to the end of his career.

People can put him where they want him. I have him ahead of Dempsey and Marciano personally. Dempsey did nothing. He won the title from a shot Willard who was coming off a 3 year plus layoff. Got taken to school by a former lightheavy. Outside of that what did Dempsey do that gets him top ten? Not directing that at you, just the people who have him in the top ten

Exactly but I don't think they'd even dominate at CW/LHW
