    The only different thing about this event that's different to the hundreds of other HW title fights is that some lunatics made up the "he won the event" phrase.

    "he may not have won the fight, the belt, or made it past the halfway point of the fight, BUT HE WON THE EVENT!!!!"

    That's insane. And people are still chanting it like a mantra today.

    Never in my life, in any other sport, in any other fight, have I heard anyone say this. These nutters are trying to convince themselves it actually means more in a HW title fight than battering your opponent into a bloody mess that requires 60 stitches to repair, and results in the fight being stopped with 6 rounds still to go.

    Frank Bruno out boxed Lewis. From memory he was ahead on the cards too.

    Lewis stopped him too. Bruno made it past the 6th round though.

    Did Bruno win the event? He was the crowd favourite. Lewis pulled some dirty moves in that fight too. So why no rematch for Big Frank?
    You could argue he was a lot unluckiest than Vitaly. Lewis just caught him with a sweet left hook, and then finished him.

    Whereas Lewis had found a home for his right hand on Vitalis face.

    And EVERYBODY knows there's no doubt Vitlay would have gottem KOd in the 7th.

    Yes or no: if this fight would have been allowed to continue to reach its 'natural'* conclusion, would Vitali ever have been able to fight again?








    * there's nothing unnatural about a TKO, but we'll play along for the sake of the K2 fans.
