Pryor Vs. Cervantes. Did Cerv bite off more than he could chew at 140? A title bout?

Of course! But I think there's a good chance Pryor overwhelms him as he did, albeit much later in the fight and with a lot more hassle beforehand.

Cervantes' offence could veer right off into the sloppy as well at times. But when he was on point? One of the best ten stone fighters I've ever seen.

I agree with FleaMan..Cervantes did get a little sloppy in the 3rd and the 4th of this fight..(But in his defense Pryor was all over him)..

At his best Cervantes would've dealt with that kinda' onslaught better. Pryor would in turn have to adapt and then figure out how to impose himself on Kid Pambele again. As I say, I think same outcome but later on in the fight.

    He was shot to pieces.

And he still managed to drop Pryor.

Not a fight that adds much if anything to The Hawk's legacy.

Just who else had the tools at that time to walk right thru Cervantes like thab? Who else was capable of making a Cerrvantes Bout non-competitive?

Anyone not around at the time was in for a real treat on that Saturday for a great day of torch passing......

In the afternoon you had Pryor doing that to Cervantes. That nite, Hearns destroyed Cuevas.

That was out with the old and in with the new and both fighters looked terrific and you knew you were watching a tremendous fighter at their peak. And 2 old champs went out and you knew they weren't coming back from those lickings to any sort of championship reign ever again.

Boxing can be absolutely ruthless to the losers of a contest and it sure was on that day.

Yes but do you not think it was alarming how Furuyama got to him consistently?
