So it's pretty much confirmed no more Roach? and who's likely to get the job?

I hope it's Brother Nazim Richardson.

Attitude wise, Brother Nazim would would be good for him.

Not sure if he'll be able to teach him the new skills/tricks he desperately needs, though. Khan may need more than a motivational speaker.

That's more of the issue, a mental and attitude issue something Nazim can help Khan with.

I can't think of any trainer that would be a good fit for Khan, he may try to get a defensive specialist but at the moment I can't think of a trainer who specializes in that.

You think Virgil and Khan would be a good match?

He seems like a person who prefers to have a small nest of fighters, with Ward being his main priority. Not sure what he’d make of the attention that Khan brings. Roach and his gym was already used to that with Manny, and so Khan fitted right in. However Hunter, despite being pretty a confident proud man himself, prefers to keep a low profile, I imagine.

But if he’d be happy to take Khan on, then yeah, I too would prefer him over most other trainers. Partly because I can't really think of any other decent trainers to teach a dim-witted, one-dimensional fighter. Oh, and being around a classy guy like Ward would also do him some good. Rather Khan draw inspiration from him, than someone like Manny - whose style and fighting mentality is not appropriate for him.

if Mayweather Snr had a better personality, he would have been a better coach for Khan

Khan doesn't just need a new trainer, he needs a "buddy". Someone who can give him something to drink when he needs it (or when he doesn't), and can pull him out if another brutal KO threatens to happen. :D

James "buddy" McGirt it is :good

I think they would. What I like about Hunter is how commanding he is. I'm not sure if you watched the Seth Mitchell-Chazz Witherspoon fight but Hunter was also in Chazz's corner and he gives clear strong instructions which Amir probably needs. Roach just can't say it, unfortunately. It's clearly not a fluke with Ward because I saw how he was telling Witherspoon to box and you could see he had some good boxing ability, bar the third round which he got stopped in.

Yeah, like you say, Ward would be good inspiration, especially since they came out of the same Olympics, so I'm sure they can relate well and Ward could give him some sound advice.

Nazim Richardson, with all due respect, I don't think does enough. He doesn't take fighters on the pads besides them hitting them with swimming support sticks. I don't think Amir would understand his lingo too well anyway.

    Only part of the issue.

His skills are of major concern, too.

Him being suckered into brawls and trading when he's hurt isn't because he wants to be a warrior. It's because he's clueless and doesn't know what to do. You can bet your house that if he actually knew how to defend himself and slip punches effectively, then that would be the first thing he’d do. Not foolishly goading an opponent into hitting him more, or laying on the ropes shaking his head whilst getting smashed to the body and head repeatedly. He resorts to that nonsene only because his defensive barriers are breached and he has no answers.

Oh my god, if it's McGirt, I would actually say Amir should hang it up. It just wouldn't work.

The scary thing is, they are going to NY.. where McGirt is... and Macklin trained with Buddy for the fight with Sergio and Macca and Amir are good friends... Oh shieeeet.

Khan also considered working with McGirt in the past. He spent a day with him. Can't remember whether it was before or after the Prescott disaster. Probably before, because that's when he also visited Unca' Roger.
