Lewis said he would rematch to the press. He waited as Vitali blew out Johnson. 15+ Million dollars was there for Lewis to re-match. Boxing needed this fight. The WBC ordered the re-match. Lewis who ran his mouth BALKED. He knew he wasn't going to win the re-match.

There were two ifs in the sentence.(Lewis his sentence)

Lewis his legacy was worth more.

 

Vitlay said he'd fight his mandatory Rahman. He waited as Rahman blew out Meehan. 7+ million dollars was there for Vitali to face his mandatory. The WBC ordered the match. Boxing needed this fight. A man who lost to Lewis against a man who had gone 1-1 with Lewis. Vitali who ran his mouth about Lewis BALKED. FOUR TIMES. FOUR TIMES HIS COURAGE FAILED HIM. He knew he wasn't going to win the fight. He had hit Lewis with his best shots, and after a wobble early, Lewis walked straight through them. The Rock had knocked Lewis into next week.

Well, not really.

The idea that Vitali "forced" Lennox into retirement is a subjective matter of opinion. Only Lennox knows why he retired when he did; anyone else can only conjecture.

The idea that Lewis TKO6 Klitschko is a historical matter of fact. Everybody knows, no guesswork required. :good

 

Lennox told us that he could beat Vitali in a rematch.. Negotiations for the rematch fell to the ground, so Vitali fought Johnson instead, after Klitschko's destruction of Johnson he became Lewis' mandatory.. Lewis retired right after that happened..

Subjective? In reality it is.. But it's quite obvious.

 

I think maybe it's time we let go of the idea that destroying Kirk Johnson is very meaningful, or enough of a statement to "scare" an ATG into retirement.

LL knew what VK was all about. He'd shared the ring with him. It isn't like the Johnson result told him any more than what he already knew. Klitshcko had thrown his best at him already and failed.

 

On the subject of a Lennox Lewis rematch, Vitali had this to say:
