That's pretty much what got Calzaghe his win against B-Hop, his work rate.

Froch would have to try and implement the same tactics he used against Abraham, keep his distance and flurry from range, work the body because Bernard is difficult to pin down.

You forget that Calzaghe was a great inside fighter in his own right. That's where his engine paid dividends vs Hopkins, not at range. Plus Hopkins &Abraham couldn't be more different. I struggle to see how Carl would need the tactics he used vs Abraham when fighting someone who is a lot better and a lot more subtle than Abraham.

I wasn't trying to compare Froch to Calzaghe, nor AA to Bernard, was just stating that the gameplan Froch would need to use is that similar to against AA, how affective it would be against someone of B-hops elusiveness, who knows.

Hopkins is just too old to win this & would find a way out in the 2nd half of an typically ugly spoiling affair

Easy fight with a nice pay cheque but it wont be a great spectacle, the build up would probably be more entertaining than the fight itself

Second half of the fight gets very interesting, The fight would open up more and more. Become more roughhouse, Hopkins likes time to think, he likes to control the fight with his footwork. Early this would be the case as Froch laysback and stalks slowly. Wouldn't count Froch out of winning a round or two before the 6th..

As the fight wears on, the more Hopkins has to move. The more Froch engages the more rougher the ride gets. Even Ward tired somewhat against Froch due to the pressure and the ruggedness of the man.

It's no easy fight for either man, tough fight to call off the bat. Wouldn't be right for me to call it like that. Deserves a bit more thought.

If Hopkins is still holding back the ageing process!

    Hopkins would beat Froch!

Styles make fights, this is what you need to understand. Carl Froch does nothing that would bothered a fully fit fountain of youth Bernard Hopkins.

Bernard Hopkins has only EVER had trouble with big athletic fighters with above average ring IQ.

Carl Froch is a not a athletic fighter with above average ring IQ. It's a big mistake if you go into a fight against Bernard Hopkins, where Hopkins has the advantage of being the better athlete, in terms of Speed, Co-ordination/motor skills, Foot Speed..............

When you give Hopkins these advantages, you are completely ****ed, because he is of a higher intellect. The Pavlik & Trinidad fights, these two fights where built up as his most challenging fights before they happened. But technically they where both a walk in the park, and they where always going to be a walk in the park.

"Hopkins would beat Froch, just like Ward did! Maybe even easier"....

The best football players can see a play in its initial stages and anticipate 3-4 shots ahead, that's why some strikers are always in the right position! are always their to capitalize. A boxer like Floyd Mayweather or Bernard Hopkins, pretty much know at times what their opponents are going to do, they anticipate attacks, and recognise rhythm.........at there best! inside of the ring this is what they are trying to do mentally!

Bernard Hopkins stated that every fighter has a rhythm, great boxers recognised this, and can anticipate moves and attacks, and what this does..? It makes you appear faster physically.

Because you are not just reacting to the action, you are not just seeing a punch and moving out of the way.

You are anticipating ****, so you are positioning yourself knowing that a jab is coming, a back hand is coming, he's going to throw that combination again etc....

Only genius boxers have this ability this extra sense, beyond..........."sight, hearing, smell".......

You cannot afford to be slow against Bernard Hopkins, because his mind and vision is already faster than present time. Hopkins finds it most challenging against athletic fighters with above average ring IQ's, because it's harder for him to anticipate attacks, make all these calculations in his head and..? Counter or disrupt the action.

In his last fight against Chad Dawson i was very impressed with Bernard Hopkins, he was only beaten on workrate and that's it. On a technical level, he still displayed immense skills and i think he could of made the fight closer but..? He let himself down, i feel he could of upped his workrate.

Carl Froch does nothing that would bother a in form Bernard Hopkins, and Carl Froch is slow as ****! Thats bad news up against Hopkins.

Whilst Hopkins continues to defy old age he beats Froch. He's way too smart for him.

Froch should step up to 175 anyway, why hasn't he done this yet? He can't have many years left in him and it would improve his legacy if he became a 2 weight world champion.

I thought Hopkins looked pretty Abysmal against Dawson.. Another 8 months will of passed if they fight in November...Hopkins will have to be constantly Moving/throwing to keep froch off him.. Which I can't see him Doing for 12.He just doesnt have the legs anymore... He may win rounds early but I can't see him winning overall.

I'd fancy the Hopkins that fought Calzaghe to beat froch though..

When was he meant to step up? He had the super 6 then fought bute + pointless stepping up as he is contracted for bute rematch in Canada at 168 having said that there is a couple of soft title holders at 175

  11. Calzaghe always would have matched up well with Hopkins who always needs time to go about his work.

Agreed that would always be a close fight. Both were past their best when they fought

    Also......

Joe Calzaghe would beat any version of Bernard Hopkins. As i explained up above in my earlier post, which has been by far the best post in this whole thread.

Hopkins only has trouble with athletic fighters with above average ring iq, Carl Froch is not a extremely athletic fighter and he does not have a way above average ring iq.

If Bernard Hopkins is still holding back father time, Carl Froch is a easy fight. There is one thing you cannot afford to be against Bernard Hopkins..? and that is slow.

All the great fighters have vision, 6 seconds ahead of normal time. Like all the great snooker players are 3 shots ahead of the game, all the great football players are also 3 shots ahead of the game! They see plays unfolding, and come to the mathematical decision to be in a certain position.

Bernard Hopkins inside a boxing ring, is making calculations. He is anticipating moves and attacks, he is memorising repetitive patterns in way his opponents fight. He does all of this during a fight, so he can anticipate what is going to happen next. So he is not just reacting to punches, seeing punches and trying to move out of the way or block. Bernard Hopkin's is trying his best to anticipate, this makes his own speed more of a weapon.

When Bernard Hopkins is facing fellow fighters with above average speed and who also have above average ring IQs..? He has trouble, making all these calculations, the job becomes harder because they are moving and thinking faster. And that's when he turns into rough house Hopkins, spoiling and fighting on the inside! which is dirty but it is a art in itself. But when he can make all these calculations..? its a walk in the park......."Hopkins vs Pavlik & Hopkins vs Trinidad where easy easy easy fights because of the styles"

When Andre Ward faced Carl Froch, in a post fight interview he said that he was SHOCKED! by how slow Carl Froch was.

Bernard Hopkins would probably end Carl Froch's career mentally, he would never be the same. Because Carl Froch personality wise, is above himself and he would just say the wrong things during the build up to the fight.

If Hopkins can hold back father time! I want to see this fight!

The only chance Carl Froch has got is workrate, that's it!!!

Joe c had a hand speed advantage. Carl does not. Its a terrible fight for Carl that wont be made. The best he could get is a tight decision

Unless Hopkins finally ages and is unable to compete physically Froch gets frustrated and schooled all night long. Far to much ring craft does B-Hop possess... Horrible match up for Froch.
