Pryor Vs. Cervantes. Did Cerv bite off more than he could chew at 140? A title bout?

Furuyama gave Cervantes a fight but Cervantes won that fight comfortably. When he fought Pryor he was 35 years old and had been a pro for at least 16 years. It had been apparent for a while that he was no longer the fighter he once was. He was still good but no longer great.

The fight I always wanted to see was Cervantes-Duran around 74 or 75. Thats a fight right there.

Cervantes was certainly far tougher in his prime. Nothing overly pretty to watch but you could be fairly certain that he would be there for 15 rounds while trying to grind his opponents down with a steady stream of jabs and right hands.

I would say that in his prime he was as tough and stronger than Arguello at 140 lbs, and we know what a fight Arguello gave to Pryor.

So then I wonder what a prime Furuyama vs Cervantes would have looked like? and vs Pryor for that matter?

Cervantes Vs Muangsurin in '77 would've been the one to make.

Muangsurin defended WBC version six or something times that year. Benitez would beat Cervantes and no unification happened..,Cervantes said he fight the Thai but it never got further than that

Nah, it just didn't happen, Pambele was well looked after by the WBA and Saensak got tied up with rematches and then Cervantes lost, and then the Thai lost. It happens.
