    I agree and this is why I love the linear titles. It's the only true title.

    :lol: Who are you in agreement with? The thread starter is actually arguing against the concept of the lineal champion being unconditionally recognized.

    Lineal is the purest claim but certainly not the only one that matters. The man makes the belt and not the other way round.

    A more interesting thread might be "how many lineal champions were the best at the end of their reign".

    There have been occasions when the next lineal champion was going to be he first major contender who got the champion into the ring!

    As soon as Ali had his licence to box taken away from him in 1967,Joe Frazier was pretty much recognised as the best active heavyweight.
