Maderna is working off the jab, putting in hooks to the body and slapping rights to that weird Afro of Véliz's. Random windmill right hands by Véliz, missing badly from outside before he sinks back into his crouch and moves off. Big 1-2 by Maderna, pushing Véliz toward a corner. Additional shots put in to the body, unable to pin Véliz down. Jabs by Maderna on the front foot. Right to the body. Jab between the gloves. Véliz takes a quick step back and almost loses his footing while peeking up over his guard at Maderna with his neck craned. Maderna keeps the jab on him, waking him down. A messy flurry to the body by Véliz, slow handed and inaccurate despite having his target literally in front of him after diving inside.

Round 4

Maderna jabs to the head and body, then bangs out a right to the curls. Véliz is trying to push out his own jab while hunkered over, shaggy head dangling down past his waist. Maderna walks him to the ropes with a double jab and then opens up with a big power combo as Véliz shells up. Body and head shots. Véliz laughs at him after Maderna slows down, walking away from the ropes with a smirk.

Round 5

Jabs to the face and a whipping underhanded right to the body by Maderna. Véliz runs, bounces his back off the ropes, and moves away in the opposite direction. Another hard body attack by Maderna, bringing the mostly quiet crowd to life. High jabs by Maderna. Right hand over the top. Wild right hand and hook by Véliz, missing as Maderna adjusts his feet and leans away. 1-2 by Maderna, pushing Véliz to the ropes. Another, through the guard. Jabs by Maderna, pressing. Véliz leans against the ropes, and drops his head below the path of a Maderna right cross. Maderna watches him from a couple of feet away, squatting and sizing him up. Big straight flurry by Maderna. Véliz tries to block but gets NAILED by a right hand while stepping out from against the ropes. Weak pawed jabs by Véliz. Maderna kicks back off his heels to dodge the jabs and comes back with his own.

Round 6

Jabs to the face and rights to the body by Maderna. Big flurry, uppercuts. Looping right around the guard as Véliz melts into a corner. Maderna hits the brakes and steps out, letting Véliz come forward and possibly show some weaknesses in his guard. Véliz waltzes in and out deliberately, never straying too close or opening up. Maderna starts to walk him down again with jabs. BANGED into the corner, Véliz shakes off a right hand and steps out around Maderna. Jab by Véliz, brushing Maderna's forehead, his best shot all round. Several more jabs by Véliz, picked out of the air by Maderna. High jabs, right to the flank, right to the head by Maderna, clubbing him up and down.

Round 7

Maderna puts in jabs to the head and uppercuts with either hand to the body, nearly lifting Véliz off the ground as he pounds him to the ropes with blows crashing in under his arms. Hard straights to the body now, working off the jab. Maderna turns his body to the right, letting Véliz's weak slaps land across his hips and buttocks before squaring back up and getting the jab in his face. Véliz is more assertive, letting his jab fly, but Maderna's is the only one landing. Véliz circles out to the ropes, avoiding Maderna.
