Was a long time ago since I watched that one, but I was of course very impressed. That and the Tarver fight should rank as his best efforts since he beat Tito, I'd say.

But from memory all those three came to him, and Hopkins still looks very good when he can concentrate on countering. Fights where he has to force the issue more (like against Dawson), it's another issue.

He definitely forced the issue against tarver.

I can't rationalize it myself considering how big Dawson's frame is, but surely he must be able to make the weight comfortably, because why else would he take the risk? Andre Ward is not Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather, Dawson isn't going to get some life-changing payday for fighting him. He must know he can make it and perform well, otherwise it's a suicide mission for a mid-level payday. I really hope he is able to fight, because these two guys should be able to provide a fascinating fight. Wish Ward had said it could be a catchweight instead, if he didn't want to go to lhw. Even 170 would have been slightly better, and would have enhanced the legitimacy of the win for him.

Oscar thought he could make 147 okay. Okay, he was well past his best but only 7lbs below his most comfortable fighting weight at the time.

Dawson is already coming down from what, 190?

I personally believe Taylor had the best or most
Legit win over Hopkins. I think I gave the
first fight to Taylor by two points, haven't
seen it in years. I think Hopkins still
had great defense in the second Dawson
fight, Dawson didnt dominate he just outworked
Hopkins, Dawson look confused at times as well.
I think Ward will take the fight, hes quite
versatile imo. At first I thought I heard
Ward was moving up. Anyway Ive never seen
Jones vs Hopkins 1, so cant comment on that.

Jones Jr. in 1993 by far.

Rationally, you're bang on. But if this is the case, it must rank as one of the most colossal ****-ups of all-time (if CD loses). Dawson could beat the **** out of Pascal and become a dominant lhw #1, and wait for a big fight. There is no need for him to move down and get $300K or some such middle of the road figure for losing to Ward.

You kidding me? I didnt know the purse was that
low, I thought Dawson would get at least a $million
