I know people shrink a little with age but only by a few cm and this is just standing next to Wladimir - Vitali is even taller than Wladimir! I don't think George would have been able to beat a bigger and more technical fighter: This content is protected This content is protected Haterz gonna hate but what could George have done? He wasn't a better boxer and wouldn't have been taller. Nor would he have had the better footwork. "Old fighter from past era, smaller, less technical with inferior training and diet would win (just because) you ****ing douche" ESB counter arguments incoming.........
The only way quitali wins is if smacks big george over the head with one of his lean mean cooking machines..
My first instinct was to disagree with the thread starter, if only for the rather arrogent presentation of his own self righteous opinion, dismissing all argument or discussion. But he might have a point. Considering how George was outboxed by Jimmy Young , and the other obvious flaws he's shown in both phases of his career, Vitali would have the proper attributes, awkwardness, technical ability, and a good chin, to be able to beat George. Funny thing, George could beat hall of famer Joe Frazier rather easily yet lose to a historically insignificant Jimmy Young, but thats why boxing is so interestingly unpredictable, and proves the old adage, "styles make fights".
It would have been a fun fight while it lasted. I agree that Vitali probably wins but Big George would have put him in a fight. Prime Foreman did not have to deal with men that much larger than him who probably could hit just as hard if not harder than he could.
TKO6 Vitali was never hit the way big George would hit him . . . Lennox had him out on his feet. Big George would have put him to sleep. Vitali would not run so he would go out on his shield
This, and Vitali would not have the power to keep Foreman off of him. Foreman always had a powerful snapping jab. Vitali keeping his hands down isnt gonna cut it. Vitalis too slow, and doesnt have the defense or feints or ring iq of Jimmy Young. Foreman walks him down and Cuts him up.
Young George was alot faster than Vitali and had a very good jab. Also, iirc the Russian he beat in DF Mex (by KO) in the Olympics was as big as Vitali or nearly so. It's an interesting fantasy matchup fight. Based on speed, power and resume, I'll take young George by late stoppage.
this would be an intriguing match-up, Foreman would have the physical disadvantage, but he would have the chin and power to make Vitali work inside the ring
The **** some of you idiots with black and white avatars come up with is astounding. This is the worst post I have seen in a while.
Vitali quit against Chris Byrd. What the **** is he gonna do when George puts that strong ass jab in his face constantly while he has his hands down like a ****ing ******. He is gonna go to ****ing sleep that is what.
I can see why some would pick Vitali to win. He's a good boxer and could possibly last until the final bell and win a decision. But he would have his hands full with Foreman. If Lewis could walk Vitali down and have him hurt and holding on, I can see Foreman doing the same. Lewis isn't known as a pressure fighter, but when he squared up, planted his feet and started slowly walking Vitali down he had surprising success and Lewis is not that much bigger than Foreman. Hard one to pick. I favour Vitali but wouldn't be confident in my choice. Foreman hit awfully hard and much like Vitali for all his awkwardness and clumsy style he was very effective.
Vitali wouldn't trade shots with Foreman. He wouldn't have to because he has a decent enough physical advantage. I'd pick Vitali by late stoppage. Foreman would have his moments but he would miss more than land.
