Why does Chad Dawson get a pass for fighting shot old fighters time and time again?

    Lets have a closer look.
Eubank at 31 was a better name than most on there.
Eubank better than Adamek at that weight
    The next 2 were similar
Reid was a better win than Johnson
Tarver better than Thornberry, though you should know Thornberry was a showcase for the Collins fight that didnt happen.
Tarver similar to Starie at the time. Tarver gets credit for beating a Starie leftover years later. For arguement sake I will just say Tarver.
Sheika beat Johnson to get to challenge Calzaghe :oops::patsch
Woodhall was better at that time than Pascal with a greater resume
Veit has a better resume than Diaconu and became an interim champ
    Hopkins greater than McIntyre
Was Hopkins at 46 and flopping to the floor to get out of a fight that much better than Brewer then? I will say Hopkins.
To me I make that at this time one up for Calzaghe, with Eubank, Reid, Sheika, Woodhall and Veit being the better fighters on your like for like list

Of all of the times to start this thread... Now? This is some BS troll crap.

Dawson is in one of the worst divisions in Boxing today. He took on all who were relevant and is now extending himself to do more. Can't ask for more.

I say this and I am NOT a huge fan of Chad.

totally agree, but its close, neither fighter Calzaghe or Dawson has gone out of his way AS YET to take on good fighters consistently a la Froch.

Obviously Calzaghe can never do that now, so hes always going to lose out to future SMW undisputeds, but Dawson appears to be making the effort.

Importantly, Chad is not claiming to be some kind of legend yet.

It is obvious you will never concede that Dawson has had the more difficult path than Calzaghe when both became champions. However you have Calzaghe one up, so you must think it is fairly even, therefore give the man his due, Dawson is one of the only fighters today who has shown he wants to fight anybody. Here is my take on the topic anyway:-

I think undefeated LHW champion Adamek was more dangerous than past prime semi retired Eubank, and also LHW champ Pascal was more dangerous than Woodhall. Other than those two I agree with your other choices, some can be dsiputed. I also think Ruiz is better than Brankco Sobot.

Give Chad Dawson his respect, win lose or draw the man fights the best available. Also no way 31 year old Eubank was better than any LHW version of Bernard Hopkins.

bailey, :-( you wrote all that because you think beating 31 year old Chris Eubank is more credible than beating today's Andre Ward.

No point playing stupid now, Calzaghe beat a past prime Eubank. Andre Ward has earned his respect as one of the best fighters in the world today, even through he fights in jokeland the man is skillfull.

Had we been discussing a prime Eubank, fair enough there is a conversation to be had, but we are comparing a Prime unified SMW champ with a past prime semi retired weight drained LHW/CW who lost 5 of his last 9 fights. Hence there is no conversation on this topic.

This is bull****. Chad Dawson has compromised weight, location and has "gone out of his way" to get the fight with Andre Ward. He also called out Calzaghe, Hopkin's and Pascal who were the big names at LHW. Dawson is one of the few fighters today who is trying to make the big fights. Give the man his respect.
