Um no. The obvious assumption is that a left hook is the lead hand, hence the name of the stance being orthodox.

Pac's left hook would be the EQUIVALENT of a RIGHT hook not a left hook.

hatton is Gayweather's best win in his entire career, and he even fought him at 147, which is hatton's best win.

Although many *****s here would argue that Corrales is God.

You could also include Frazier-Foster, Frazier-Mathis, Tua-Ruiz, Tua-Moorer, on and on and on...

I'd also call it a hook, FWIW.

Sort of a hook that straightens out a bit near the end, (by turning the body) for more power.
It's a brilliant punch because it has almost the same power as a straight left, yet it's harder to see coming.

Displays as in just the left hook that began the finish? Or, display as in, throughout the bout, Mayweather produced one of the best displays of use of the left hook in boxing history?

    If the latter. No.

Mayweather rarely landed with the left hook in the earlier rounds due to Hatton's extremely fast footwork. It was only when Hatton started to tire was Mayweather able to land the left hook with a little consistency.

It was quite clearly a counter, and something they had clearly been working on...something Roach had said to look out for. Hatton does a little slip/loads up before he throws his left hook. Watch as soon as Pacquiao sees the movement, he gets his punch off first and rolls out the way. Excellently timed counter.

^ Well, maybe. I guess maybe Pac was waiting for Hatton to drop his shoulder. If so, then that's even more impressive.

    - But I still don't think so, because Pac planted his back foot, in preparation for his own punch, BEFORE Hatton started to drop his left shoulder. It was only a counter if Pac is psychic.

The last thing I'll ever do is believe stuff that comes out of Freddy Roach's mouth.

Well, you'd have to watch that exchange in super-slow motion to know for sure.

He was looking for it all the time which was one of the reasons Hatton footspeed didn't trouble him. He was looking for triggers to get his own shots off. Pac doesn't have to be psychic if he sees what they are going to do, even if the opponent doesn't know they are telegraphing the shot. That's what separates an average boxer, to a world class boxer, to an elite boxer...these milliseconds that an elite boxer can take an advantage of on the spot.

Roach is a great trainer though, whether you believe what he says or not, that's fair enough. But look at his next bout, watch how Pacquiao takes away Cotto's jab using a similar trigger, Cotto telegraphing it. I'd credit that to Roach also.

Look at how Donaire set up that left hook. It looked like Donaire was going to counter with a right hand. His opponent saw that coming and quickly cover for an oncoming right hand...ooops...he got punk'd! lol

A left hook is a hook thrown with the left hand, you ****ing kook. Jesus ****ing Christ, some god damn grade A ******ation on this board.

The thread never specificed lead hook, which could be left or right as well depending on the stance.

If you are contrasting orthodox to southpaw stance, it would be the obvious equivalent of a right hook but it is still A LEFT HOOK, and the thread didn't specify orthodox stance or not. The Pacman nomination isn't mine, but I damn sure will defend it as a left hook..because it ****ing is.

Bottomline, a hook was thrown with the left hand.....don't let hate blind you to the point of mental ******ation. That can be dangeorus.

BTW, how does ***** Sayer's dick taste? Let the *** fight his own losing battles...mmm kay? Are you going to wipe his ass and change his diapers next?
