I honestly don't know why these people are on boxing boards if they don't even know what a left hook is...

Apparently a left hook can only be thrown by Mayweather to Ricky Hatton..I don't know.

Look at Ezzard Charles' feet before he drops this hook...perfect! :good

One of the greatest displays of a left hook in boxing history!

just a point, unless the Pac hook has been flipped for the gif, he's using his right anyway.

Jesus Christ, another one. The KO was a left hook. He did score one or two of the first knockdowns with the right hook.

The poster provided a GIF, the gif is a right hook. Ergo his post in regards to the punch he thought was being discredited is irrelevant.

Sorry, maybe its my connection or settings but I'm not seeing a GIF on this post. I can see other GIFs on this thread....weird. Reads to me like he's referencing the left hook that KOed Rick (almost in a coma)

This is the post that Bitch_Sayer responded too, all are still wrong anyway as a Southpaw can throw a left hook. That's my issue.

I just bought the latest installment of "Crack Heads Gone Wild" and saw that you were cast in the lead role.

    Good work...

Pac KO'ed him with a looping left hand, the mechanics in throwing a looping or arced left hand shot from a southpaw stance are totally diffrent from a textbook(or varyingly unorthodox)left hook from an orthodox fighter.

You can call it a left hook if you want, who cares, but it's not remotely the same punch mechanically as a textbook left hook, which can only be properly replicated in a southpaw stance with the right hand. The fact that the stances are reversed gives you a little clue here.

-No, it wasn't an overhand and/or looping left. For ****s's sake, I have pictures posted in this thread and its not hard to find slow motion video of the famous KO. It was not arched, it was clearly a hook that connected from a bent elbow in a sweeping motion. This is not up for argument.

-Well obviously. Nobody is arguing that. lol However it is still a hook thrown with the left hand and unless you want to narrow the criteria to "left hook from orthodox stance" it is a fair admission to this topic, no?

What the **** is wrong with these boards?

If you guys are so bent out of shape about the guy saying Pac's left hook KO of Hatton was better than Mayweather....

I'll help you out. Instead of saying stupid **** like southpaws can't throw left hooks or denying the punch was a left hook despite video and picture evidence. You could simply say, well duh..Pacman is a Southpaw of course he hits harder with his left hand, stronger naturally and more leverage given the stance.

Personally, I think both hooks were beautiful in terms of set up, execution, and result. I really wouldn't want to pick one over the other. Pacman's was naturally more devestating given his left hand is his strong hand.

    :hi:

    Sorry, Crack Head, but YDKSAB.

Pacquiao does NOT hook with the left hand. He throws is straight or sometimes roundhouse. He hooks with the RIGHT hand, genius.

You really need to stop smoking the CRACK...

I like how you are generalizing when we have a specific example. There are pictures and slow motion video of of a punch that is not straight or landing at a downard overhand angle...but a sweeping hook from an arm bent roughly at 90 degrees. Every major article on the fight describes the punch as a left hook, people in this thread who don't have some sort of sick agenda see a left hook. And all you can say..is Pac throws it straight or roundhouse.

Maybe you should quit acting like a "know it all " and try learning something instead.

    :-(

Sure, a Southpaw can throw a left hook - when he's in an orthodox stance.

Pacquiao NEVER fights out of an orthodox stance and he does NOT hook with the left hand, genius...
