Exactly, also you have to take into consideration of these greedy ass promoters now a days.:verysad Stopping fights from happening from their personal vendetta they may have against a certain fighter or promoter.

    Well said.

It is said that some skills which used to be considered an indispensable part of the game (such as feinting or rolling with punches) are now either abandoned or forgotten.

Footwork is incredibly poor these days too.

Cutting the ring off is a lost art.

I think the fact that a loss can seem like the end of the world nowadays when there was a time when it was viewed as something to learn from is a big factor.

Less skill level in the overall number of fighters means you don't have to have elite skill to be a top fighter. This is why fighters like Floyd stickout so much, hell to a lesser extent the same with fighters like Ward and Dawson.

When a bum like Berto can win a title that lets you know everything you need to know.

This has been obvious to serious boxing fans for a long time. I guess it's nice to see more people finally turning around.

Honestly, throw Floyd in the 80's or 40's WW era and you think he could be as dominant for as long as he has? Floyd is a special fighter and the best fighter of our generation. It's not a knock on him just a knock on the era. And this was during a period (2008) where the WW era was considered strong.

This is really the crucial point. Knowledge loss in boxing is something that is very real, and I get sick of having to explain this to people who think trainers today are even better than in years past because they have all that video footage to study :patsch

The guys in the video were pound-for-pounders at the time, no?

if you want, I'll find a fight between a good fighter from the 90's or 80's against a guy who wasn't rated that highly.

Darn kids have no boxing skills these days. None. And they won't get off my lawn!
