I am bias so can't really answer fairly, being the longest running Burns fan on esb, I've been waiting for this fight for years.

For one, both men are more established than either Bellew or Cleverly were. However it doesn't come with a heated rivalry, with both Burns and Mitchell being good friends.

Hopefully the fight will eclipse Clever vs Bellew action wise, if so we're in for a fantastic fight.

No doubt two genuine world level fighters, Cleverly vs Bellew was a Euro level matchup

Mitchell hasn't beaten anyone who's even been near world level. And he still won't when Burns beats the **** out of him.

Disagree Mitchell has beat Prescott who at the time was considered a top contedor, he also stopped Murray who went on to world title fight in his next fight. Burns will still smash him, but he has worked at just below world level IMO

I'd say it was on par with Clevery/Bellew with a similar level of excitement amongst British boxing fans.

I'm not sure how big Ricky's profile is north of the border these days. If he is becoming a genuine crossover star then this could be bigger especially if the media whip up the England v Scotland angle.

Prescott hasn't ever been considered a top contender by anyone, a fact that was proven when he was dominated by Mitchell.

He's not even much of a puncher, in all honesty.

Yes it's bigger but we'll have to see how the fight plays out. Burns is not very exciting to watch, and Mitchell is at his best when he's on the back foot, counter punching. Looked good against Murray and Prescott who went forward and took the fight to Mitchell, but Burns won't do that. I hope I'm wrong, but maybe their two styles won't mix well. I think we'll get a fight that does not live up to the hype.

Mitchell showed some balls fighting Prescott after he had nailed Khan.

Prescott does hit hard imo, I think his problem is conditioning.

Burns is one of the top 30 fighters P4P in the world, in my opinion.

Probably yeah. Real shame that its getting tucked away on that other thing. This fight deserves mainstream coverage IMO.

Also Mitchell could be having a few domestic issues going into this. I read on his Facebook saying his cousin only had hours to live the other day and apparently he broke up with the missus.

Prescott is better than some recent title holders, and previous to the mitchell match he lost a very close (according to reports) SD to Miguel Vasquez, not long before he became IBF champ, still is.

BoxNation need to develop some sort of relationship with a mainstream TV outlet, give a free/cheap highlights package to ITV4 or something. although this is bigger than bellew - cleverly was, I'd still prefer if Burns got more people talking here in Scotland

I dont think the fact Murray had a world title shot after Mitchell beat him adds to value of Mitchell win
