Name boxers you think have elite footwork

That was years ago before he started playing basketball which improved his movment by miles. Anybody can find a clip of a fighter's flaw early in his career.

To steer this thread back on track...

Leonard was really good towards the later part of his career in jabbing while circling, stepping with his punches as he moved (particularly against Lalonde). Though he always had good balance.

Robinson's footwork is also the thing that stands out to me the most when watching him on film. When he doubled and tripled up the jab , he just seemed to glide, whether he was coming forward or going backwards or stepping sideways.

 

i loved barreras display of lateral movement in the hamed fight.. excellent use of the jab combined with lateral movement, moving away from hameds power left keeping him off balance


he was also very good at slipping to get inside and throw that left hook to the body

 

My favorite things about Barrera :happy great mention.

 

From current fighters - Pretty boy, el terrible, Cotto, dinamita, the executioner if you want to learn proper stance and educated steps. Even the golden boy had awesome footwork the few times he decided to go that route.
La Maravilla, pacman, khan are all unfinished approaches to a fast style of footwork/boxing.

Never thought of Cotto as having good foot work.

He has an almost perfect stance and movement that goes perfectly with his style of pressure. His upper body seems open at times and I do think he fights too low, but it's also his upper body that overshadows how great a stance he has. Very educated.
His is a very basic stance. I always encourage noobs at our gym to start out with either Cotto's or Finito's stance for the basics. Later on they'll get their own style once they realize how their individual bodies work.

can anyone explain what this is , why its effective and why no one else uses this technique ?
