    Yeah, definitely a quality operator.

Hopefully he gets the right fights, Proksa was a decent opponent, don't want any more bus drivers.

Wouldn't mind seeing him in the mix at 168 in the near future.

If Golovkin trains hard, which I expect he does, I can see no issue with him moving up and down in weight. He's not a tall guy, but he is solid, and as long as his conditioning work is consistent, I think he'll have success at any weight. He's going to find it hard to get the best fights, so shifting a few pounds here and there is going to get him titles. Don't be fooled by the lazy, weight drained claiming, beer guzzling, junk food eating fighters. I reckon Golovkin could do 12 rounds at a days notice.

    :good Cheers BA.

Anyone know how his reach compares to others in his division, Kellerman kept making a point of his ''deceptively long arms''. He's able to step out and fend off attacks with his arms and also counter quicker then a fighter with shorter arms.

    Good shout.

I see there are a lot of people who think GGG would beat Sergio :nono
These must be the same people who think Price is the second coming.

Let's get one thing straight; GGG just beat a guy who Kerry Hope beat. Proksa had one lower top ten guy on his record.

Sergio beat the man at 160, he beat the guy noone would fight at 160, he has KO'd two other Euro top tenners.

Sergio is the king. GGG looks good but let's not crown him just yet.

Proksa may be a hands-low, southpaw, mover but he is a couple of levels below Martinez in skills, power, strength, technique, experience and intelligence.

You'll see when Sergio smashes Chavez in the same vein as Haye smashed Stella Chisora. :bart

    Good points.

GGG was a quality AM but has a pro-friendly style. He is very good and undoubtedly heavy handed.

Your last sentence is bang on; I strongly think Chavez is getting sparked here, Martinez has a venomous/nasty aura around him much like Haye did against Chisora. GGG seemingly hits harder but I doubt is as strong as Chavez.

Its very interesting that Chavez/Proksa are probably the closest, high quality 'tuneups' GGG/Martinez could've taken!

You do get the impression he's pretty ****ing serious about his boxing. He definitely wasn't in there trying to conserve his energy against a durable opponent and he's by no means a guy who needs to rely on output to win him fights. I think how comfortable he is in the ring helps aswell when you can outbox, out power and outtough an opponent its going to help you from getting too worried and burning nervous energy.
That fight if promoted well could single handedly bring boxing back.
From what I've seen he is the better boxer, more professional and hits harder than Chavez but its hard to compare when they've fought different opponents. I didn't think of that but you're right assuming Martinez does Chavez they would have both beaten the poors man version of each other. I agree about quality of opponents as well although Proksa is tough and awkward he is far from an elite/proven world class fighter like the guys Martinez has been fighting it was a test though.

There is big fights at Middle, he could fight, Geale, then make defenses against, Macklin, Barker or Murray, if Martinez loses to Chavez Jr, a Martinez fight would be easy to make.

All eventually leading up to a massive fight against Chavez Jr,

Me personally would not like to watch Golovkin v Ward, & Froch is way to big to fight GGG

Golovkin vs Mackilin = Macklin having to be helped out of the ring.

Sure Lemieux can bang, but technically Golovkin is on another level altogether.

Loads of fights Macklin/GGG would be a barnburner as would Chavez/GGG and lets not forget about Sturm, Pirog and Quillin if he can string some good wins together. No need to go anywhere yet.

Its amazing how middleweight has suddenly turned from a wasteland (bar Sergio) to an absolute bombfest!

I always thought Canelo would vacate/move up before fighting Lara; not so sure now. Golden Boy might have to get Lara a shot at another belt!

    He's rather Barrera esque

  15. He looks very solid all round and he could probably knock out a horse.

Props to Proska, tough lad. Threw everything he could at him. Went out on his shield.
