First off, one of his losses was clearly a premature stoppage. The other loss? That punch would've KOd anyone, chin was irrelevant. Here is why Lewis had an iron jaw though: his resume is filled with punchers. Anyone who has defeated that many punchers and taken their biggest shots has a good chin. I rate his chin a solid 9.0 on the 10 point scale of Iron. You can think what you want but Lennox Lewis had a fantastic chin. What do you think, ESB?
Great post Slyk. I made a fantastic thread about it, so I'mma just copy and paste " Lennox Lewis The sheer amount of big punchers Lennox fought during his career is mind bloggingly impressive. Prime Razer Ruddock- Inventor of the smash, a punch that can kill. Ducked by everyone in his division other then Tyson. Took Tyson to the deep end. Prime Tommy Morrison- Mr KO Artist. Prime Andrew Golota Prime Shannon Briggs Fought a semi Prime Gary Mason as a 15 fight novice. Basically a kid version of Lewis fought this huge puncher who had a 94%+ KO Ratio. Frank Bruno Close to Prime David Tua Prime Michael Grant PRIME Dr IRON FIST himself. Mr SUPER KO Artist. Vitali the KO Artist KOitschko. Prime Rahman (knocked him out 2nd fight) and last of all Past Prime Mike Tyson. But get this. Tyson's ONE PUNCH KO Power was actually MUCH more devastating as he got older and thicker. Yes, Mike was shot, and yes Mike was slow after R1. BUT power is what guys? Power is what? POWER IS THE LAST THING TO GO. Always. Tyson still had his amazing one punch KO Power. So he still counted as a massive puncher. "" Great post once again. Really shows your intelligence :good
Razor Ruddock may have invented the smash, but even more impressively invented the incredible boxer trash compactor. That's impressive.
It wasn't a premature stoppage vs McCall. Also the shot he's taken vs Rahman was a straight right. Helluva shot but not the hardest punch in the book and wouldn't have KO'd anyone IMO. Also a lot of punchers he faced barely even punched him and surely didn't land their best shots on him. That said, yeah. It's fair to say he had a good chin. Not iron but good enough.
Nobody said Lewis had an Iron Chin. Nobody, not even Lennox Lewis. It's 'solid', Wlad's chin is 'average-below average' Does it even matter? Lewis and Wlad are the two best heavyweight champions of their generation.
Having a Iron Chin means jack ****ing ****. David Tua had an 'iron chin' and surreal punching power. Lewis toyed with him on route to the widest 12 round UD ever. Carl Froch have a iron chin too. Andre Ward did what?
Lewis's chin is underrated but is certainly not granite. I'd give it a 7/7.5. And why mention Wlad, in any thread regarding Lewis you always bring up one or both of the brothers.
I have to say I think he did have a solid enough chin and I'm not the biggest Lennox fan in the world. He got KO'd with a shot against Rahman that would have put a horse to sleep. He's no McCall but his resume stands up to the point in question.
