How do you know he has not shot at beating Canelo? How much of a shot did you give him beating Ortiz? .The Garcia fight would still be there even if he lost to Ortiz theoretically. Fight wont happen because of Al Haymon though
He beat Ortiz and deserves major credit for it, but Ortiz was winning the fight until he quit. Plus he came into the fight weighing 144 pounds. Now he's going to go up to 154 and fight a big guy in Canelo Alverez? I'll say anything is possible in boxing, but Garcia is a more winnable fight for him and he'd get the lineal title and could defend it in his natural weight class
Ortiz was winning the fight but Lopez won by breaking the guys jaw. Boxing for fighter is about making money. Even if he lost to Canelo he could still get a Garcia fight is thats what Al wanted to do

It's funny how some are saying Josesito struggling to keep weight is no big dealatsch We are talking about a dude not to long ago was at 140 and was getting hit by big shots by Ortiz at 147. Imagine what Canelo is going to be weighing in on fight night and how Josesito is going to perform and feel in a weight class he hasnt been in.

However, it isn't unreasonable or unheard of in boxing for someone to overcome a deficit of several pounds (even around 10). In this case, it could be that staying slim & fast actually benefits the smaller fighter whereas having him bulk up and slow down would unfairly handicap in favor of the already bigger and stronger man. You're missing the point of weight classes entirely if you think Josesito would be in the wrong to come in lighter than 150 or even 147 for a LMW title bout. That's basically what you're saying, that if you're vying for a title in a given division you need to be as close as possible to the weight limit in that division, and above the limit of the next one down.
