No just no.... Lopez should have been winning the fight on the cards but corrupt judges were giving Ortiz a shutout. That was on its way to being one of the worst robberies of the year had it gone 12. If you had actually bothered to score the fight yourself you would have Lopez ahead. I know I did.

Lopez' best chance against Canelo is SPEED. Putting on weight too fast would just slow him down. I can't think of any advantage it would give, except maybe he'd have a little more substance behind his punches. That extra muscle (assuming he could actually create a few extra pounds by fight time and not end up in the hospital with kidney failure) would also tax his heart, as there would be a lot more capillaries for it to have to pump blood through. It takes longer for the heart to develop than it does for the muscle fibers to grow. Thus, Lopez would also be in danger of gassing out, in which case Canelo would kill him. This is just stupid. It's EXACTLY why a top S&C coach is a good idea.
It takes a lot of guts to stand for the sport,even if that means going against your favorite boxer.I didn't hesitate to go against Gamboas behavior previous to the Rios fight.It wasn't good for the sport.Whats gonna happen sept 15 isn't good for the sport either. I know I did, I had it 86-85 for Josesito at the time of the stoppage. I did agree with PMJ on her scorecard for Lopez vs Vargas though 96-93, I say this because I've read from quite a few posters on here that they felt Josesito should have won that fight. I believe he would have won (as he was landing the much harder blows) if he didn't allow himself to get outworked, the judges were being fair that night.
Considering a borderline 135 pound cousin of Miguel Cotto was able to rock him, if I were Lopez I'd just worry about gettin into the ring in the best shape I can. I do think Canelo will be a star, but he's just not there yet. Josesito is a live dog, as always. And Canelo will need a couple losses before he becomes a real superstar anyway. He isn't learning as quick ad he should, and in my opinion, it's because he still doesn't know how try quite hard enough, and losing will help him with that. He had another 10-15 years left in his career anywy.
While most boxers are watching what they eat, trying to make weight, and hoping to eventually get a big payday, Josesito is stuffing his face, spending training camp entirely on fitness and technique, and on his way to getting paid. Not a bad deal.
