    That's true.

But Pineda was a rangy 6fter with a long reach on him who had a physical advantage on Mayweather where as Tszyu was a short, stocky fella and simply couldn't get the job done at range and got tied up whenever he tried to get inside.

I seriously don't think Tszyu knew how to deal with Mayweather's tactics that night and I recall him commenting that he was surprised at just how long Uncle Roger's reach was. This says that he and his camp didn't do their homework going into this fight too well either.

Like I said he did get better and more seasoned later on though.

Yes, Kostya is one of those fighters who enjoyed weight training.

He even did barbell curls and dumbell curls which fighters rarely do.

Actually he is known for his intense training routine which helped him to get in shape as he used to put a lot weight between the fights.

Do you know how much Tyszu put on between fights, I didn't think it was that much as they had a satellite link up interview of himself and Ricky Hatton about 12weeks before their fight. Hatton looked massively fat, while Tsyzu looked trim and in shape. We all commented on how much more professional Kostya was

Kostya gained about 33 pounds between Tackie and Leija fights.

He usually weigned about 170-175 between the fights.

He said that sometimes he used to drop about 44 pounds in three months before the fights later in his career.

    Interesting.

I'm not sure whether the weight drop played a massive role but Tszyu was fantastic against Tackie and very ordinary against Leija.

I'm not a nutritionist or sports scientist but I've never been sold on drastic weight cutting/gain like Tszyu and others have done as (and I maybe wrong) but it seems to lead to some wildly fluctuating performances. Think of the difference between the best and worst of the likes of (middleweight) James Toney and even Chavez Jnr, both massive weight cutters/gainers. It just seems strange how powerful and sharp they can look some fights and how downright lethargic they look in others.

I agree, hence why Canelo needs to take rounds off, Brandon Rios turned into a **** weak lightweight and Segura looked a lesser fighter at flyweight.

Weight cutting in the modern era is ridiculous, 24+ rehydration periods have ruined boxing IMO.

Plus , I bet d thread starter did not mean 35 years old Kostya Tszyu , but rather a prime 1 .

Pryor and Trinidad r so vastly over8ed here , Pryor is mentioned as 1 of d gr8s @ 140 , while his resume there is considerably poorer than either Cotto's/Hatton's .

Tszyu stopped Nazarov in d amateurs , and Nazarov was 3 years older in n age when older is n advantage .
