What ridicule ? I mean he fought a prime Mike Tyson and this was the first time he fought at heavy if im not mistaken .That loss doesn't take away from his greatness ! Anyone who ridicules a pro boxer is the one that needs to be made fun of !

His first fight at heavy was against Holmes mate,which isn't really that much less of a task when you think about it,even if Larry was on the slide.
And you're spot on about ridiculing the guys achievements or taking away from his legacy.I judged Spinks on that loss for a while but only because I was so hopeful of Tyson being tested like never before.
And I was very wrong to do that.Spinks should be higher on any ATG list than Tyson.

 

Close but I think when money retires he will be considered higher on the ATG list. Spinx is under appreciated around here and deserves a lot more respect

 

Last I heard he was suing Butch's estate because the trustees cut him or something because I think Butch kept some of the money and paid Spinks like a monthly wage from it...so he wouldn't blow it all I imagine.

You're acting like Mayweather didn't perform at an elite level above his highest weight. Pretty much 4 weight classes higher. Mayweather has the slightly deeper resume IMO simply because he kept at it and didn't quit when he went in tough.

Spinks was at the tail end of his career...he threw the dice took on the biggest challenges available in Holmes and Tyson..then called it a day with money in the bank..where is the logic in marking him down for that? Where could he go from there?

Mayweather could fight a prime Roberto Duran and he'd last longer than 90 seconds.

Mayweather's resume is simply deeper, not hard to comprehend.

 

He would never fight a prime Duran hell he didnt even had the testicular fortitude to fight a prime Pac, he hasnt and would never take the kind of risk Spinks took by fighting Tyson or even Holmes.

 

He tried to fight Pac and when the deal was signed Pac wouldn't sign off :-(

How could I forget the Holmes fight ..Either way can't knock Spinks for challenging himself. I mean he lost to Mike Tyson not some stiff ..Some people should just keep their opinions to themselves ..Spinks should be higher all time ..I def rate him over Floyd ..
