If Tommy had his number, why did he lose again?

I think it was more A case of Tommy was on a mission not to get ktfo again...

If you whip a guy twice, you really can't say you were lucky...

You cant say you were lucky, all you can really say was that he was prepared for the Hitman!

Barkley is the rare breed of man that is NEVER truly beaten. Not until the referee waves his arms, or the final bell rings.

That is basically the long and short of it. Hearns thought he had a fish on the beach in front of him, and felt mighty good about it, and Barkley was still punching, looking for a way to win.

Hearns got taught a very, very valuable lesson, and he did indeed learn it, even at that age.

In the rematch, Hearns fought a much better fight, but so did Barkley, and Thomas, instead of being blasted out after posing, was just manhandled and roughed up.

The rematch is not at all a lucky result. Hearns fought the type of fight he needed to stay away from the worst of what Barkley could dish out, but Barkley in turn fought a much better, rougher, tougher fight. One must harken back to Leonard and Hagler to find a fighter who went at Tommy that hard, counters be damned.

I wonder if Tommy would admit that Barkley was his toughest opponent...And even though Tommy was fighting the wrong fight in there first match, after that right hand and gettin knocked outa the ring I dont think it really mattered much
