Could someone who's 5'9 or 5'10, beat or K.O someone who's 6'3 or 6'4...?

They are almost all shorter from my experience. Holyfield was quite a shock for me, I imagine he's shrunk some with age, but no way he was ever 6'2" or more. Norton is the only fighter I've met who seems to be as tall if not taller than billed.

Winky Wright was tiny, I was expecting a guy MUCH bigger than me since I made 118-125 in college pretty easily, and he was only an inch taller, with skinnier legs than me (though his torso is much blockier, of course).

Jameel MacCline is as big as billed, he stands head and shoulders over everybody in a crowd.

Height is usually an advantage sure. So is weight, reach, etc.

But skill and technique is about 1000 times more important of a factor in any kind of fight. In or out of the ring.

The use of height outside of a boxing ring in a strict boxing match using boxing rules is incomprehensibly different to such ends that I would say you cannot draw conclusions on one based on the other, regardless of what your take is.

My stance: height is useful in a boxing ring since both are conditioned athletes who compete based on weight and will be extremely fit. You're not fighting a short tubby guy or a long skinny guy (relative to you). You're fighting a trained athlete/combat machine (depending on your take, again) who has requisite training in combat, in the specific sport and its nuances, and in fitness. Styles and alternative attributes make boxing matches, sure, and anything can happen. Bar none, though, height will be an advantage most of the time in a boxing ring if the hypothetical, lofty argument (I call it an argument since this method of asking for assumptions is common, but how often does it really in fact appear in real life?) of all things being held equal, i.e. skill, power, athleticism, et cetra.

Conversely, there are a lot more variables in a street fight. I'm a short guy, being 5'10.5 on a good day (and after a few weeks of running consistently...), and 5'9.5 on a bad one. I've fought guys who are heavier, lighter, taller, shorter, less body fat, more body fat, stronger, weaker, who obviously do a certain style of exercise (Olympic lifting versus free weights versus cardio-based workouts), and many combinations therein. I won't apply general rules here, since each person's experience and take will be wildly different. From my experience, though, there are just too many variables in addition to body, namely in terms of skill and approach. Would I use fisticuffs or entertain a boxing-esque set up versus someone who is taller, given I may not know who I am going up against, even if I am a skilled boxer myself?

Maybe. Maybe not. I'm not skilled enough a boxer nor dumb enough to have that much blind confidence in myself. Getting hit outside of the ring and in it are also too very different things. In turn, I have usually found myself adopting an aggressive wrestling style to get someone down first since I have a, well, wrestler's build and the certain advantages which go about with it. Thereafter, I prefer to utilize punches. If I am not successful? Damn. If I am (which I usually have been, which I believe is the result of lots of people just never having fought, not expecting to fight when a fight does occur, or thinking fists/boxing/fisticuffs are the only method with which to "fight"), well, height becomes irrelevant and weight and grappling/wrestling/leveraging skills take precedence.

I have seen big lads getting sparked by people shorter than that in the streets. I'd go as far as to say Ive seen HWs getting KOed by WWs.

Im suprised it took 3 pages , but the above tells all about size difference.

if you are good you are good size only skill matters.

Valuev has only been hurt 2 times.
Other times it was either not having any effect (anything Holyfield threw), or it just bounced off his head (mainly bums)

It depends. Are they both equal skill? is the 6'3 guy skinny and weak or is he an ex football player and 220lbs?

Almost all the biggest punchers in HW boxing history besides foreman were under 6'
