Lest we forget the words of the late great Bert Sugar

"I remember once watching the savant Willie Pep once win a round without throwing a punch but only Jimmy Young could do this for a whole fight'

Norton easily. Jones may build up a very early lead, but Norton's strength and heavier weight would soon overhaul it.

A Norton stoppage by the time the sixth round has elapsed.

Yo, Longhorn. It's been a while; I haven't been in the lounge much the past six months.

I'm with you on this Jones match up, though, I think Norton has him in trouble early.

Do you really think Ken's chin is that bad, or that Jones was a harder puncher at heavyweight than say Ali or Holmes, who both hit Norton with some of their best shots?

The reason I made this thread is because of all the love Jones has been getting lately.. So I wanted to see how far this love was really going to extend.

I think Norton would win by KO but maybe have to come from behind on the cards to do it...

Norton by KO in the second minute of round 1!

I love Roy. Norton would waste him.

Well I would pick Norton too, but I think because of the styles Jones would have a chance to land something and hurt Norton. Doesnt matter what Ali and Holmes werent able to do, Norton could be hurt by quick punches. Norton was down quite a bit in his career. Knocked out by a smaller guy and blown out by quite a few powerpunching heavies.

Only remember Norton being blasted out by humongous punchers bar the one occasion.

Roy has never stopped anyone over 200lbs.

If quite a few is 3, then I can see where you're coming from more. He was blown out by Foreman (who was blowing everyone out at that time and is one of the top 2 hardest punchers ever), blown out by Shavers (one of the top 2, most likely the hardest, punchers ever), and Cooney (whose left hook packed more raw power than almost any other fighter's punches in history).

It wasn't really the quick punches that got to Norton, as was shown in the Ali and Holmes fights. It was more the hugely powerful punches that froze him up and the said punchers unloaded on him to knock him out. Jones wasn't the puncher that guys like Ali or Holmes were at heavy, and certainly couldn't dream of being strong or hard punching as Foreman, Shavers, or Cooney.

If you're going to question Norton's chin, then you must question Jones's chin too, because he got blown out in brutal fashion more times than Norton did. He got blown out by people who didn't hit as hard, weren't as strong, and arguably weren't any better than Norton was.

We all know that Norton didn't have a chin of granite, but let's be real, if his chin was half as bad as it's starting to be seen as, he would've been blown out in almost every fight.
