Body shots by Smith, thudding heavily. Garcia is cut on the bridge of the nose. Robert Byrd ruled it from an accidental butt. Double jab and a clubbing right by Smith gets Garcia ducking. RIGHT HAND, LEFT HOOK BY SMITH ROCKS GARCIA! BODY SHOT, STARCH TAKER!! ANOTHER HOOK, AND DOWN GOES GARCIA!! He beats the count at eight and scraps his way in trying to hold but Smith bats at him, landing a cuffing hook but then pushing him down so the 2nd KD doesn't count, ruled by Byrd to be a slip. They battle toe to toe until the bell.

Big right hand over the top by Smith. Jabs to the body. Double jab fluttered into the face. Garcia shrinks back, then tosses his arms around Smith to hold. Garcia ducks as a jab scrapes his shoulder. Smith is doubling that jab to the face and slamming over the top with a right. OH!!! Garcia scores with a left hook and right hand flush to the face but Smith rolls back with it, turning his shoulders quickly to move with the punches. Garcia plugs away on the inside, leaning into Smith and working a left uppercut. Straight shots by Garcia, missing. Smith grabs him and lets go. Byrd is keeping it clean. Jabs traded. Smith tries to drop a rainbow right on Garcia behind a jab. They clinch and Garcia knocks Smith in the teeth with a short sweeping left while holding him.

Closer round, surprisingly!

Round 3

Garcia is jabbing his way in, reaching for Smith's chin. Smith is leaning back, drawing himself tight like a bow, and then snapping forward with counter right hands. Garcia is getting a few jabs in but Smith is scoring very well with counter left hooks and body shots. Smith is proving to have the quicker and heavier hands and better timing, along with a better chin. Garcia is hanging in there, jabbing as he falls in and then bouncing outside. Smith lands the jab, slaps down with a right and gets held. Byrd splits them. They stand opposite each other for the final few seconds, watching and waiting. Garcia jabs, and gets blocked.

Round 4

Solid left hook by Garcia!! Smith is surprised and skips back on one leg, having been caught a bit off balance. Smith circles and jabs, watching for incoming blows and twitching his neck muscles ready to slip. Garcia jabs and misses but plants a right under Smith's ribs. FLUSH jab by Garcia. Smith misses a left hook as Garcia ducks, but gets in a right uppercut to the body. Tit for tat round so far. Double jab, right hand by Smith. Garcia is falling in and shrugging his arms into Smith's body, not quite punching but making an impact in his own lazy way while conserving energy. Back on the outside Garcia falls in with a right hand and misses as Smith counters him with both hands. A bit scrappy and messy, both guys missing on the inside.

Garcia is trying to score from the outside with left hooks or overhand rights, no longer bothering with the scrappy infighting that he wasn't necessarily getting the better of anyway. Smith is happy to counter from long range, holding his left arm low and alternating between jabs and hooks to catch Garcia on the way in. They tie up as Garcia shuffles in while Smith idles. Clapping hook up top by Garcia and Smith pokes him in the body while backing up. NICE left hook by Smith to punctuate a combo up close. Right hand lead by Smith, cocked by his chest before being thrown. Garcia stands in front of him and poses, waving his left around. They collide while both punching into a clinch until the bell.
