I watched a great fight between a brave undefeated Nigerian Ajose Olusegun and a murderous tough puncher from Argentina Lucas Matthysse. Matthysse stopped Olusegun in the tenth round and he Lucas can HIT...Who would you pick between Matthysse and Carlos Maidana both at 140.? What a WAR that would be ! What say you ?

Lucas hands down, the more intelligent puncher, has equal chin/stamina, and a brutal body attack. His resume is better too.

Maidana is more reckless in his approach, seemingly throwing everything at an opponent hoping something lands and hurts.

You mean Marcos Maidana right? I'm gonna go with Lucas just cause he can box as well as bang.

Maidana is a crude fighter who's biggest asset is his strength. Mathysse knows how to fight. His aggression is calculated, and there his punch placement is very good.

Maidana will hit you anywhere at anytime while Lucas works certain areas to break you down. Lucas is one of the best body punchers I've seen in awhile, and he has a great left hook.

Another thing is chins. While Maidana has a good chin, Mathysse has a great chin.

This fight would be explosive and wouldn't last long. I think Mathysse would know Maidana out in 3-4 rounds. He is just better than Maidana in every aspect of the game.

Mathysse knocks him out with a bodyshot in a very entertaining fight.

For the record Matthysse probably should be undefeated, only fight that maybe could have gone the other way was the Judah fight, he completely dominated Alexander. His competition has been very good too, no one wanted to fight Ajose either who is a very decent fighter, much better than a 140lb Erik Morales

I want to see Matthysse against Bradley or Pacquaio, I think he could maybe beat both, that's how high I rate him. He'd certainly beat Khan, Garcia or Rios

    True.

I don't want to see him against Bradley cuz I don't want see Bradley at all.:D

Matthysse-Khan probably won't happen in the near future.

Matthysse-Garcia or Matthysse-Maidana would be a very good winnable fights for Lucas.

Matthysse-Alvarado sounds like an instant war too.

I'm with the consensus on this one, Matthyse by stoppage or wide decision. He's better than Maidana in most facets, better jab, more efficient with his punching, better at closing down the ring and I've yet to see him hurt like Maidana has been.

It's interesting to note that apparently Maidana beat Matthyse twice from three bouts as amateurs, the other was a draw.

What happened in the amateurs means nothing.

Matthyse would destroy Maidana. ESPECIALLY at this point. Maidana is past his prime.

Matthysse would dismantle Marcos' evil twin brother Carlos.

I'd say Maidana's chin is average although he does have good recuperative abilities. Khan also dropped him to the body and Lucas is one of the best body punchers around in addition to hitting like Thor.

Matthysse's defense, technique, combination punching, punch selection and accuracy and pressure are all way more refined and educated than Maidana. Add to that Lucas's stamina and iron chin compared to Maidana always gassing in the second half of the fight and history of getting dropped it's a pretty clear outcome imo. I still want to see it though.

Agreed. Matthysse is the better fighter IMO...
