Firstly, i doubt Mundine & Green have made a massive fortune in comparison to a lot of boxers around the world, they've traded off a bit of hype & being mouthy

They made some money fighting each other & then by bringing fighters from overseas, thats a good way to get people to watch boxing, have a local fight a yank & hype up the nationalistic jingoism

Sorry Ty, i hate to "embarase" myself :rofl

The belts alone might not make the yanks go "gaga" but the market is such that even a very small market share is enough to outdo a fight in Australia, midweek, you only need to generate a bit of hype to drag in the bucks & a bloke with two straps in the middleweight division is assured a bit of excitement, especially being Australian

Geale shouldnt limit himself to the states, of course, he should fight wherever the money is, be it Germany again, or London or Vegas, but if you've ever seena world title fight in Vegas you'd understand the hype & money involved

I put plenty of logic forward , the likes of you are just blinded

Of course i dont follow boxing

I'm like 99% of the Australian male sports loving public, we'll stand in the pub & have a beer & glance at the fights & pretend we know whats going on if a fight is being shown, but given a choice of boxing or our favourite footy code, it's bye bye boxing :hi:

A quick run down on pay per view attractions in the US there is 3 money, PAC and cotto. In australia there's 2 Green and Mundine.
Martinez and Chavez are having there first fights on pay per view so we will wait and see how it goes. If Geale fights on regular show time or HBO his max purse would be around 400k. He got that V Sturm. Ok 50/50 split of pay per view in Australia. Mundine currently gets 80 cents of the dollar of pay view revenue. So at 50/50 Geales team receive 40 cents of the dollar. Say I give worst case scenario 40k house buys @ $50 each and 250 pub club buys @ $1200 each. That's 1.8 million 40 percent if that is 720k not bad then there's the live gate I let you do the maths on that one.

Fine, have the fight in Australia but Geale should bring this Russian **** out for it

Mundine is yesterdays hero, its time for Geale to move forward & fight on e of the mexcians or the Russian

I think i'm like the majority of Australians, sick of Mundine, i think we're all cynical about his bull****

Man there's some double standards around here.

Plenty people yap their heads off when top tier fighters take the easy road of big pay days, yet it seems that's what quite a few of you blokes want Geale to do.

When it's suggested that Geale actually attempts to cement a legacy by fighting real top 5 fighters, it's made out to be dumb because he isn't making any money.

    What gives gents?

A - Should he fight to be a real champion and be the best he can be, at the expense of making the most money?

B - Should he forget about legacies, and fight for money?

Hasn't Mandy been heavily criticised for going down route 'B'?

    well tell me Ty??

you & every other Über- Expert have absolutely no idea how much Mundine makes or has made, or how much Green has made & will make, you certainly have no real idea of the ins & outs of how much all these other boxers around the world make, sure you might read the odd article that speculates but until you've seen a contract you're just being a big head & guessing

Look I would like to see Geale fight GGG or winner of Martinez Chavez. I would also like to see him stay busy. Those fights won't happen over night. Geale V mundine would be a good fight for Geale both in the financial sense and profile building sense. If Geale can continue to build into a pay per view attraction here he can be better off financially when those big fights in the states come. Let's face it boxing can be ruthless industry so you got to make hay while the sun shines.

i know exactly how much money Mundine makes and has been making since his debut. Cant say the same for Green though.

Sox, boxing is a bussiness, no point in having all these titles if it dont make him any money but guys like yourself couldnt give 2 shts about Geales wife and kids just as long as he keeps fighting the top boxers in the world hey lol , no one is saying they dont want him to fight the best but WTF is wrong with making some money along the way?
