    Muhammad Ali versus Larry Holmes,,,,,,,,,,,

An absolutely pathetic example of a professional athlete in a World Championship bout.

Muhammad put more effort in 'signing' the contract, than he did in the ring.

I dont think it was a matter of effort. He was just physically gone. Not a healthy man in the ring that night.

I don't even know what this is meant to be. A knockdown before the camera has even got in focus, then a few seconds of tapdancing literally begging to get knocked out. ****ing rubbish.

That's Naz's freakish power ****ing an Afrobum up with the first punch.

Naseem at least gave him a chance to collect himself before icing him.

I fought a few days off of a horrid bout with the flu once. I had nothing at all. Felt like a zombie.

I can't even imagine how Ali felt that night. Holmes could have murdered him.

some good choices here but going back to OP, what are some fights where they SHOULD have done better.

ali fought like **** against holmes but considering how shot he was, he shouldn't or couldn't have done better.

same for the dive fights or williams vs ali.

i like corrales against mayweather, though flea pointed out corrales really never was much. i'd like to submit gatti vs mayweather. gatti had NO chance to win, but he had a chance to make it mildly competitive for about 3 rounds. or make it to the final bell. he was as thoroughly dominated as any fighter in history. tex cobb was yelling at his tv for gatti to keep his hands up that night

In that case, Ryan Rhodes Vs Saul Alvarez. Canelo is quick but he gives his man the chance to strike as he picks his chance to flurry rather than applying consistent pressure.

Still, Rhodes failed to get off all night, having a case of the Junior Witter's. Expected so much more from him, he looked to be in his very best form, awkward, powerful and experienced.

    He got battered.

How about Jeffries Vs Johnson. Although coming off a 5 year break, Jeffries was considered the greatest heavyweight of all tine at that point. Add that with the incredible expectation of him to win, it was certainly a down right embarrassing performance! Of what I've read even the most biased of people would struggle to give Jeffries a round.

Edit - Margarito has got to be considered for his effort fight against Sugar Shane. Dude got his ass well and truly beat for 8 and a half rounds

Jefferies coming out of 5 year retirement and being beaten by what many see as a top 10 ATG in the 15th round isn't a bad performance relative to others mentioned here, lol. Although it was embarassing/disappointing for those wanting to see Johnson beat
