If you didn't know the regional rivalries and population centers, I can see how you would think that. Obviously, I don't understand the regional rivalries in the UK.

The Home Depot Center, Ward's LA venue, is located south of LA in a suburb named Carson. In that area, there are a ton of Armenian immigrants, and Arthur Abraham is a hero to them. If you remember the FightCamp, AA was surrounded by supporters while Ward was staying in a hotel. Of course, AA's flight was much longer, but other than that it was a neutral venue with a pro-Abraham crowd (I was there).

The Atlantic City fight was for Showtime, no doubt. Remember, America is 4 time zones wide. By placing the fight in AC, they could keep it in prime time across America and try to appease the UK a little. Once again, the judges and ref were very professional and Froch had many supporters.

 

Ward himself says he has unfinished business with Kessler. Kessler wants Ward. Ward is Kesslers ticket to greatness.

NoCal is definitely an underserved market when it comes to boxing. I rarely went to cards when I lived up there. Sad because there are some great sports fans up there.
