back when i was into mma genki was genius [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHGwHx4Qxvk[/ame] a real life tekken charecter
Recently watched the Ludwig fight. Thought that Genki won it. In the third, Ludwig was being dominated by Genki's GNP, and Big John called for the doctors to check Ludwig's nose, and then reset them standing up instead of back on the ground. That really hurt Genki, since Ludwig finished the fight with (less efective) GNP of his own and I guess that was enough for the judges to think that he stole the round.
No Genki thread is complete without this: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDOPNLzEFH0[/ame] and a few more.... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlK5abIJRyM[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35hCo_grAqw[/ame]
Masato and Genki fought in k-1 max gp 2003 Genki did surprisingly well... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7m5BrEvxCz4[/ame]
Genki was the classy fighting showman Prince Nazem Hamed would love to have been but never had the class or style to emulate. About Masato, I'm not saying Masato's slightly overrated, just that people actually forget his best weapon was never really his striking techniques but more his "never say die" attitude and his fighting will & determination.
As a Masato fan, I agree. His boxing technique was sometimes cringeworthy as he took unnecessary punches because his right hand was not up by his face when he threw hooks. His kicks were nowhere near Buakaw's level, or even Souwer's. But he had just enough power, technique and skill combined with his incredible fighting spirit to beat the throughbreds. I think thats why I like him more than Buakaw or Petrosyan.
