I think he will get propelled out of the ring like Joe Louis who fought Max Baer.(It was Baer if I'm right) Louis took it really well though and got up. (haha) That left hook might be too much. Either KO for Tua, or decision for Charles. I think it will become a KO
Charles was a very good defensive fighter, very slick...and black...I could envision him winning via UD, using his superior reach to great effect if he could fight off the much higher paced and more awkward Marciano he could do the same to Tua. Still Tua when in prime was no slouch and hit harder than Marciano and could win by KO if he caught Charles flush. Leaning slightly towards Tua.
Footwork fight and Tua gets turned all night. He needed some Joe Frazier legs to catch top fighters that had mobility. A plodder like this is made to order for Charles
One of the best boxers to have ever lived versus a plodding puncher who failed against every top boxer he ever met...i need time to think about this in great detail, i'll get back to you in eight months.
I know there's a huge size, strength and power difference in Tuas favour, but I think Charles would outbox him. Chris Byrd wasn't that much bigger than Charles and he managed to do it.
Charles would have to be very careful, even if he blocks the left hook it's going to hurt. One mistake and it can be all over for Charles.
Charles could well school Tua by wide UD, but it would only take 1 Tua left hook to knock Charles out. Charles also liked to do his work in the pocket especially as he got older
You simply can never discount Tuas left hook, ever. If he gets the oppurtunity to land one like Walcott did, then its Goodnight, Sweet Dreams, and the chances of this increase if were talking about 15+ rounds. Tua, as slow and plodding as he is, can land that punch whenever. Also one of the reasons for Tuas Kos, espeically the Ruiz one is, Tua has deceptively long arms even though he fights out of a croutch. His arms are long than say someone like Tyson
It always seemed to me that Tyson had rather short arms. Though Marciano is the definition of tiny arms.(He did use them really well though)
If Charles wins a UD over Tua , Xpect Pernell Whitaker 2 school him so bad , that Tua would have been stopped after taking 14 rds of unanswered punches from d "I M not a fan of his , but Pernell Whitaker was no safety 1st spoiler" mucho mas slicker , mucho mas harder 2 hit Whitaker . Y no1 started that thread ? BTW , Tua's grossly over8ed as a puncher and his chin just a tad bit above average and Whitaker's chin & punch sooooo under8ed that Pernell might b advised (by d experts) 2 try 2 take out a fatigue Tua during d championship rds when men where men and trannies still weren't hangin around with their cox swingin .
I say Charles by decision. But it would n't surprise me if Tua gets in a kayo punch. Interesting one.
Charles "shot" on june 17th 1954? That version of Charles would have beaten anyone of Jeffries and Dempsey's victims
