Charles schools Tua and hits him more than he has ever been hit in one fight

Tua is very dangerous with his late clutch power...but he was easy to outbox. Charles is simply too ****ing great to get caught late by Tua..Charles will weather the storm if he has too.

Charles UD decision 13 rounds to 2....Charles gets rocked late.

Except Charles did not box like Byrd, especially the 33 year old version with tired legs that "fought" Marciano. I see that Charles losing to the Tua that fought Ike .. the version of Charles that fought Louis could take a decision over Tua ..

If we are talking about the Charles that Marciano faced, a prime Tua blows him out of the water.

Fairy tales are fun to believe up to a point.

Charles was 32 during the first Marciano fight, not 33. Get it right. That was one of the better versions of Charles who ever stepped foot in the ring. He couldn't sustain his legs throughout the fight anymore in 1954, but he was in terrific shape for that bout and made up for his "legs" with heart, determinations and stamina for which he had never shown before. He also still had terrific skills, handspeed, and was fast/sharp enough to be able to outbox tua.

June 17th 1954 Ezzard Charles a "tired" version? No way. Not with the pace he fought at for 15 rounds.

The june 17th 1954 Ezzard Charles still looked great on film to my two eyes, he certainly gave Rocky Marciano all he could handle..Unless you think Marciano wasn't that good. June 17th 1954 Ezzard Charles was still a terrific fighter, enough to beat David Tua.

For starters, I believe that a 225 pound all-time puncher is a lot sterner task to face than a 185 pound all-time puncher.

Charles was really adept on blocking that left hook followed by a stone cold counter while maintaining good balance. I'd take him by decision over 12 or 15.. Tua has a puncher's chance, but I'm never going to bet on a puncher's chance again.

Tua blows him away after an uneventful first few rounds, Charles was what 185 pounds?

I wouldn't block Tua's left with your arm.

What if: David Tua with Salvador Sanchez skills?
Imagine David Tua doing the Ali shuffle from Salvador Sanchez just for the fun.

Don't forget Joe Louis was 218 pounds by the time he fought Charles.

Good point but a prime Tua is a harder puncher than that particular version of Louis who was coming off a retirement and was not terribly active before that. Also, Louis' prime weight was right around 200.
