froch had no business being in the ring with calzaghe, calzaghe was 36 and at the end of his career looking for the biggest paydays he could get before retiring.

calzaghe had just seen off the 2 best undefeated young guns in the division in lacy and kessler and then just gone up to 175 and beat the man at light heavy.

in what way should calzaghe have fought such an unproven fighter in carl froch? calzaghe had spent his whole career being criticised for fighting domestic fighters like froch in his home town and froch had beaten absolutely no one of note to warrant that fight being made.
