A couple of wide rounders that were eye-catching, but Martinez put in the real body work in the ninth. Touch after touch after touch.

Good action in that round. Vargas landed a couple of really good body shots, but Martinez carried more of the round.

    87-84 Vargas.

Last time Ward lost a fight (btw he still thinks he won it) was to Jesus Gonzalez when he was 12 years old lol.

    Round 10

Martinez dives past a Vargas jab with a 1-2. Held. Caught. Break by Nady. Vargas backs Martinez up to the ropes and slams him with a right hand, then continues to slam as they become rabbit punches with Martinez slinking on the ropes and bowing his neck. Right hand by Martinez trying to hold Vargas off. Vargas steps in with jabs and rights, trying to pin him in the corner. Jab to the face, right to the body by Vargas - and he switches southpaw momentarily on the inside! Vargas steps out to reset and comes straight back at Martinez, landing jabs to the chin and throwing the right hand over the top. Martinez inches his way to the corner and turns away from a Vargas combo, letting it scrape his chest and upper face. Martinez presses his back into the ropes as Vargas comes to him. A few jabs up top and rights to the body by Martinez, trying to stand his ground.

    10-9 Vargas

    98-92 Vargas

That was a great appetizer for this weekend, gentlemen. Vargas should take this decision, but don't be surprised if a judge or two awards a couple of "activity" rounds and throws things out of whack.

    97-93 Vargas on my scorecard.
